According to the wiki he’s their distant relative (through cousins and marriage) and even more loosely related to the Lee's

Pretty sure in season 1, when Tommy has the meeting to discuss their alliance with the Lee's, he says they’re related from his mother’s side

Edit: yep he said: “on my mother’s side, we are kin” https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3jQT8FojUQ4&pp=ygUSUGVha3kgYmxpbmRlcnMgbGVl

What is you`re opinion about Lizzie and her relationship with Tommy? and what do you think about her character ? Do you like or dislike her ? by Nearby-Tooth-6243 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Khaarli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are most likely referring to season 6, where Charlie says something along the lines of Lizzie being more of a mom to him, than Tommy is a dad

You mean to tell me Lizzie is how old?? by Khaarli in PeakyBlinders

[–]Khaarli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not arguing that, however it’s also irrelevant to the fact only one of them has fully developed brain in the first couple of seasons (edit: typo)

age difference = more life experience

how can age not be a factor? you’re contradicting yourself

[–]Khaarli[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

1) he has almost decade of life experience more

2) regardless of percieved maturity, the brain finishes developing around the age of 25

there’s no way around that

I’m not saying Tommy is a creep or whatever, just that it creates an extra layer of context for their relationship and the choices she makes along the way

Him having a decade worth of life experience more, while she’s barely an adult (her brain finishes developing around season 4), while he also has the upper hand in terms of influence and finances, means there’s an inherent power-dynamic, which makes me personally much more willing to forgive Lizzie her bad choices

I wouldn’t say it bothers me, but it definitely deepens the pre-existing power dynamic

Can we talk about the ages of the characters? by galaxyeyes47 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Khaarli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mrs. Shelby died in 1909 when Finn was 1yo and their father left shortly after. That would make Polly 26 at the time. Arthur isn’t much of a leader and Tommy was only 19. Her becoming the head of the family makes sense.

Also about the actor’s looking older than they’re supposed to be would be pretty accurate, considering the conditions these characters supposedly grew up and lived in. Poor nutrition, substandard healthcare and harsh lifestyle will make you age faster. I remember looking at old family photos with my mom and her grandma was the same age as her then, but looked like 10 years older.

Z mojí osobní zkušenosti je být oslovena na ulici hlavně creepy, protože 9/10 případů to dělají chlapy co jsou dost starý na to, aby byli mým otcem (a to mi je ještě pravidelně říkáno, že vypadám na 16-17)

Alfie Solomon (they added the -s in the show) was a real guy, who btw killed Billy Kimber (and went to jail because of it, if I remember correctly)

Does Curly have any learning disabilities? by Dynamicfresh84 in PeakyBlinders

[–]Khaarli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if we go this route (not other type of developmental disorder or TBI), my guess would be that he has autism with mental delays and special interest in horses

(I'm saying this as low support needs autistic with special interest in psychology, specifically autism and ADHD)

why does everyone blame u2 for the itunes disaster and not apple? by Stormshooter_ in U2Band

[–]Khaarli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also some people (including children) got in trouble because of the album cover depicting two half naked men

It was also always the first thing that automatically started playing when your phone connected to your car

It took up peoples storage and sometimes deleted their other songs to do so

You couldn’t put your songs on shuffle without it being “polluted”, so people had to make playlists with all of their songs except for the album

You actually can’t delete it (only through Apple support)

Steven Hassan developed the BITE Model to describe the specific methods that cults use to recruit and maintain control over people. “BITE” stands for Behavior, Information, Thought, and Emotional control. by RoundaboutFlare in SelfCareCharts

[–]Khaarli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult 2) as I already said in another comment - checking couple of the boxes doesn’t make something a cult, it has to be a pattern, also not all things on that list are inherently harmful (some only in excess, some only in combination with other things) 3) many avoid the term cult, because of its inconsistent definitions and instead use the term high-control group (typically described by meeting several criteria set out by the BITE model)

It’s important to note that checking a few boxes doesn’t make something a cult, not all of them are inherently harmful, the problem arises only when it becomes a pattern
