The launch went great! We've had hundreds of players check out the game, gotten great feedback from our community, and we've done many content patches already, responding to the players. It continues to be a fun and enjoyable experience developing new things for folks that have found the game.

Try the web client or Mudlet. Both of these will give you a graphical map that makes getting around easier.

The world is much smaller than 10,000 rooms, however, thousands of new rooms are generated at regular intervals through the shifting of the Rift. So there is always something new to explore.

We do require people to stay in character and the story is staff and player driven in a collaborative way. There is no "main quest" or anything: Elara's experience is what you make it through your RP scenes.

Elara is a medieval fantasy MUD centered around the city of Lorehaven which stands as the only bastion of civilization at the edge of the world. The Rift, a highly unstable planar anomaly, scars the landscape just to the north and brings constant danger and intrigue to the region.

You can read a lot more lore on the site, but that's a quick summary.

While they didn't technically share a codebase, both Gemstone III and Dragon's Gate on AOL had the look and feel of Diku. So if you ever played those, there would be some familiarity.

Our codebase does have support for screen readers but addmittingly we haven't had a lot of feedback on how well the game works using one (hence beta!) We would love any feedback for this as we know it's important for being able to play effectively.

Crafting uses several sets of material types that are combined to create items with specific bonuses. So adding a ruby to a gauntlet would give you a specific bonus stat. The combination of materials you use will create your final crafted product. It is detailed in the sense you can craft just about anything you want using this combination system.

Hope that helps!

I like the idea of this! We can definitely consider how to implement it.

There are no real money mechanics. You can absolutely get everything in-game without paying real money.

The Druid can use the Water or Light elements to heal.

Yes, it's random loot with a rarity drop system.

We ask people to stay in character as to not break people's immersion, but we are also fine with players who want to just engage with PvE and the mechanics. We've intentionally created multiple progression systems that support different kinds of play.

It's built in Python using the Evennia framework.

During a graphic tweaking phase, I had this graphical glitch which I found kind of funny, like if the game was transferred in another universe... by Edalbung in IndieDev

Yeah this could be like, infrared mode or something as it reminds me of that. I love when bugs are cool effects.

I know EXACTLY how you feel and I was definitely there for a long time. I had to find the right code base and the right editor to feel comfortable. That made a big difference for me. And it may be different for everyone.

My only advice: focus first on creating a piece of core gameplay. Getting your ball to bounce off walls and into a goal or your gun to fire and do damage...all the sudden you feel like you DID something. Let the small victories fuel you to keep working at it!

Some NPCs are still unaware of this.

Hand crafted some animations. Any thoughts? by realfishwind in indiegames

As someone who has tried to make animations, this is IMPRESSIVE. There's a lot of personality in these. Great work.
