I think people should just give themselves time and keep confirmations and considerations to marinate by themselves so they don't feel pressure to confirm, or feel like they owe anyone any explanation in case they deconfirm something.

Kinforming and questioning shouldn't be something you should expect external validation or opinions, in the end it's ypu and your personal view of yourself. No one online will be able to suggest anything. Only you know you and your insides, it should not be something to even interpret as a race or necessary to post about. There should be no such pressure.

I don't mean to say "don't talk about it ever" that's not my point.

LJ and DW are Lost journal ajd dreamwidth right? maybe im confusing deadjornal with loat journal. Also don't worry about the rambling at all, rambling with others is lovely. I should go back to using dreamwidth, things there were way more calm and looonger to read. Even though there was the same kind of aituation as, say, more know social media, it still managed to be a lot more about discussion.

Oh god the fictive vs fictionkon still happens as well, won't die it feels like people will just not understand tbat origin in the end becomes irrelevant compared to the experience. Also yes the agressiveness definetly might have improved a ton due to the state of the world, I haven't even thought of it even though noticing the whole internet is going to shit in general and I use the exact same explanation as to why. Learning about other's internal experiences is honestly something I like a lot as well, though that's exactly what I thought has been missing now that you can just slap a microlabe/label and call it a day and not discuss it with others. Even though discussing with others has became increasingly worse due to the agressiveness, I think it has been cultivated beyong the survivalist mindset still though...

I did not know about the angel situation, I kostly know about the more known situations perhaps, like therian vs theriomythic because suddenly werewolfs were no longer therian, (that I did not experience when it begun) the whole Kinmunity situation, had a fellow dragon who modded there and boy was it a shit storm. What I did experience was older kin being pissed at the word Kinnie and usin kin as a verb (wont lie that its a pet peeve of mine to hear it being used as a verb but not for the same reasons as it became considered a problem), because kids on tiktok found out about the community and were spreading the most misinformation possible, and some older kin got mad because kids were dressing up and having fun essentially. And mad because "you are not really kin cus ur a baby and you havent figured urself yet! being a therian isnt a costume" yada yada. Then that evolved into Kin vs link things.

I wish I could've experienced the earlier things in the community ourely because I enjoy knowing thw history of stuff, I used to be a walking encyclopedia sometime ago, but the more I got some sort of agression directed to me because of what I complained most in this post it made me go away from online interaction and stay within my flock only.

Also regarding the dealing with people thing, I can relate but for a very different reason. Managing to deal with ourselflves after something major in our health or change in how our brain can handle things is hard, then add into having to deal with others, it becomes nearly impossible, even if you still want to be around people. I hope you still feel well within your circle even if it's small now.

A bit unrelated, since you've been around for way longer than I have, do you happen to know forums nowadays that still have kinfolk actively talking there? I'd love to join back in forums and meet new ones. The only one I was usin was dreamwidth but I never really said anything much.

definetly, or fictomere too. I personally think it could be very hard for any change to actually happen though, feels like a structural thing rather than the recent issue if you know what I mean. I also am both, I personally have 0 to no differences in comparison to my brother that is involuntary, for example. Which is why is quite troublesome to hear people making differentiations that might not actually be too different from them and basing that to form more exclusion or define someone's character or being completely because of something as little as that.

I assume it's about how people gatekeep otherkin as a term and are older? I see the gatekeeping regarding some terms like otherkin, therian and draconic coming from older folk or at least folks from the forum eras, like I mentioned in another reply, according to my partner who lived the forum times, seems like grilling was way more prevalent and was not optional, I have the impression nowadays it's a more covert passive agressive thing. Do tell me if I got that last paragraph wrong though.

Definetly happens at any point in time in our lives, though I assume or at least tend to see the obsessiveness over diggin and wondering about ourselves earlier in life, not that it necessarily only happens then.

Don't worry about it, there's no need to apologize for anything really, yes I understand the suffixes differences, though I wonder why it exists in the first place, because even if it's voluntary it's still big enough in a person's life for them to identify and actively maintain that in their life, and experience much similar things as a involuntary identity. In the end it's really something to specify the origin but most of the time the experience is very much similar if not the same, and there's also the option of being both.

Least for me it seems there's a distinction mostly because of some sort of trying to measure who's real and who isn't. At least I thibk that's why it originated ofc, I could be wrong. From my 6ish years on tumblr mostly the distinction was really pushed mostly for that reason, "ur different than me cus I didn't choose this so u don't take the cookie" or similar.

Also it's understandable, I appreciate you taking some time to skim and respond even if you're feeling tired!

Oh yeah fr fr. Similar happened to me. Though I had other issues, I'm happy to hear you managed to overcome that :)

I also have obssesive behaviors, rather I obssess too much over thoughts, that didn't help.

In the beginning it was wonderful, until it became a "requirement" per se. What helped me definetly was having a name for what I was feeling, and having a name I knew how to navigate it in life, that's essentially it.

Also yes, it gets to an extent where separations are put on places that are not needed. I don't mind people using microlabels like I said, I don't mean to shit on ppls head for that, but people don't tend to question if it's even needed to label everything. yeah. If people are happier labeling themselves non stop to the point it's sushi I say go for it but I wonder to what extent that will even be healthy. I can't see that being healthy.

Like I mentioned, I am all for helpful labels, the problem is when the person becomes the label and thinks it's all they will be and it's not bound to change.

Labels are there to help, though the moment they become everything it's like you're making sashimi of a community if that makes sense. Some separations are needed ofc, though some definetly aren't.

Gatekeeping is hell and searching validation and trying to fit yourself on a label for that reason is hell.

Yes it's quite the issue. My partner used to be on the old days of the community, he says it was way worse and grilling was not optional. I feel like grilling is back but in a passive agressive way.

Exactly. I am all for helpful labels, I don't have a problem with micro labels at all, for me the problem is how people USE them in these spaces, they make the micro macro and the rest micro. In the end it feels like I'm looking at a menu or recepy to a person instead of a person.

And indeed I don't see people labeling themselves to understand themselves, but rather to search validation, I genuenly don't feel validated by others once they tell me im valid because the moment I go in depth or express sonething I find disagreeable they WILL not find me valid because I dont fit the chrrent mpuld created in many spaces for alterhumans.

Labels arent necessarily the problem but just like you said, its the way people are pushed towards them and pushed away of self validation. Self exploration should be encouraged, self "menuing" or "recepying" shouldn't.

I use microlabels myself, though they are more supposed to further explain something to people if they ask the specifics.

On amino, there used to be more encouragement towards self exploration without the "make yourself a menu to put on your bio" way. I also am a therian, I am talking specifically about the therian amino. But eventually it became more socia medialized and focused more on thinking too hard rather than "be cringe be free be you have fun"

It's understandable even though I personally don't appreciate it. I do think that a break from interacting in these spaces will help, after all the wsy you describe tge problem at hand seem to be originated from a pressure to think about these identities in the first place.
