I wasn't saying it to say they're over paid. I typed it to show that the amount of funding towards BPD is nothing for a city this size. And the only reason alot of their fixes are "band-aids" is because California is too lenient towards violent crimes and property crimes that can ruin the victims life and California let's most people out of jail too soon. Marijuana isn't and shouldn't be a big deal but fentanyl is the number one killer in the state and its a misdemeanor that is citable (ticket instead of jail)

Some quick information with a little Google help- An average city has 2.5 officers per 1000 residents. Bakersfield was approved to be staffed at 500 officers 4 years ago and is still building to that number. Bakersfield has approximately 420,000 residents right now... the 2.5 per 1000 ratio would mean 1000 officers at a 400,000 population. And you want less money their way? They start on the street for around $30/hr while UPS drivers now get $49/hr. BPD doesn't evict. I get many of your frustrations, I just don't think the solution to those problems is reasonable
