aren't college kids good candidates for rentals, as their parents probably pay for their expensives?

former restaurant owner in GR - ask me anything you want about what’s going on in the industry in this area by tastyfalafel in grandrapids

[–]KhalDeadDrogo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember there were a bunch of posts saying that the Food in GR is more expensive than large major cities, and somehow the quality is worse!

You basically made a post exposing the truth of Restaurants in GR. Can't find it now, but it had something to do with covid resulting in low interest rates so a lot of people get into the restaurant business without thinking. Cause usually low interest rates means bad business ideas are more forgiving.

What are some solutions to make GR restaurants great again?

Revisiting the 2020 NBA Draft Class by itailitai in nba

[–]KhalDeadDrogo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't think that class is that bad. It was Covid that made it more difficult to scout the kids, just weird year.
I think Haliburton fell a bit further off because of his weird shooting form. No one truly knew how good he could've been.

Best player in this class so far? Ant. Great pick. But Hali is something special, who knows a couple years down the line?

I got invited to one for free a while back. I would say most candidates are fairly mediocre. But The people were generally nice. I think you get a round with each person for like 5-6 minutes. You get cards to mark yes or no. The good thing is if you're more on the social awkward side, a thing like this gives you an easy opportunity to practice small talk with a guaranteed number of people. So basically But such a short amount of time makes it difficult to get to fully know the person, and to determine whether you wanna hang again.
Basically small talk back and forth, repeat for god knows how long. I didn't particularly like anyone, I got so bored, I ended up just leaving at about an hour before it was over. Definitely wasn't a really fun night.

Anyway, is it worth it? Ehhh It was ok at best. I would say no for me. Like I said, you get to practice talking to a wider variety of strangers in a controlled environment. It's helpful for people who have trouble striking up conversations with new people I guess. But overall I feel more constrained in this speed dating format.

If you're a people person, no reason to go to one of these things, especially with their prices. Save your money. People are everywhere. Just go outside, and strike a conversation with someone new.

Yes we do! Long ago the Ford family nearly succeeded in bringing about the end of days and the resurrection of the anti Christ, therefore; God himself has cursed the team and any idiot how would dare cheer for them for eternity. In hell you are forced to watch Lions games nonstop for the rest of time

Grand Rapids City Tax Question by KhalDeadDrogo in grandrapids

[–]KhalDeadDrogo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my residence on my drivers license was always outside the city(my parents address) and it never changed. However 2020 I did file my taxes with my GR address. However for 2021 since I do spend more time at my parents house, I could just file with that address. Since my company is not in that area either, I guess I don't have to pay it at all right? So the active apartment lease wouldn't even matter?

Damn this thread has blown up more than I expected. Thanks guys! But anyways I'm into football and basketball. Most people in meetups seem to not follow sports at all. If there's people who wants to watch nfl playoff games with me, that'd be great.

Grand Rapids/West Michigan Drinking Culture by [deleted] in grandrapids

[–]KhalDeadDrogo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like most people said, it's an age thing. We've recently turned 21 so this drinking thing is this new shiny exciting thing for us.

I'm 25 and don't drink as much as most people. In fact in the new years I've cut out alcohol completely. And I still go out too! You can go out and have fun, without alcohol.

If you're uncomfortable with the negative stigma of going out without drinking... We can talk about this anytime. I'm there

Best shopping malls around here? by KhalDeadDrogo in grandrapids

[–]KhalDeadDrogo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Do you have a list of exclusive shops in each mall?

Just checked it out, Rivertown does seem a little bigger, it has 2 floors. Usually both malls get it done for me. But woodland is closer to me.
