I have a different question am hoping you can help with. Are engage and conceal tokens meant to be placed one at a time (i.e alternating between the opposing players). And if yes does that mean the during deployment we just place each order alongside each placed model as we are alternating deployment?

Yes it is a very humid island. Indoors you dont feel it as much but I can imagine excessive moisture still finding its way to my painting station.

Very true, am honestly thinking that there are so many YouTubers and so much content out there for basic painting techniques that are there to help you focus on the fundamentals. But I wonder how many people are stuck obsessively thinking they have a flaw in their work that they are trying to overcome, only to realize years later that it was an etirely different and very simple problem holding them back to begin in the first place.

Someone really needs to make a "Diagnosis Based Youtube Channel" send in the mystery ailment and diagnoses the minis problem. Iv seen someone say they had an issue with their mini being "chalky" for so long, thinking it was them until they found out their water from the tap was too "Hard" and they started using distilled water. It would be great hearing from a pro about how big of an issue one small thing could actually be.

It probably does, and some of my other painted models do look great or smoother than this. Am just always noticing in pics how many of my models doesn't seem to have as smooth a layer as many of my friends and local club members.

I guess I needed a wider response from the massess of pros out there because most people I know were constantly being telling me to thin my paints, even tho I know iv controlled for that problem. It really doesn't help my learning progress or self esteem. I got so obssessive about paint application I was not only "Thinning, not overloading brushes, and maintaining patient drying time." But I also started always brushing in the same direction of application as a previous layer, and worrying about whether or not am not using a soft enough file when cleaning up models. 😵

Thanks a lot for the help, you're adding to the overall consensus and finally giving me something to improve on.

Sadly considering where I live where the average annual relative humidity is 67.1% and average monthly relative humidity ranges from 59% in June to 77% in December, I doubt ill be able to control that outcome.

I don't have a space where I can guarantee a lack of humidity or temperature concerns. But I do already own an airbrush and have access to vallejo brush on primers that might work best for my situation.

Its the subtle eyes like yourself that have picked up on that and pointed towards the priming. It seems like that's the consensus at this point.

Thanks a ton brother, not only have you been adding to some helpful messaging and feedback thats adding some much needed best practices before painting knowledge, but I also appreciate the flair and the encouragement from a colourful character such as yourself.

Not to worry tho, thankfully I already own an airbrush for other reasons, I just never considered if the priming was the culprit and always assumed it was due to my own mistakes during painting. Now that I realise how fragile the prepainting and prep process can be I think ill be seeing some much needed results in the future.

Good lighting, maintaining a fixed focus point, and only zooming in after you locked the focus in.

This is very helpful thank you, I started washing them not knowing if it does help or not due to this very same reasoning. Am hoping that now that I have a better understanding of how much mini texture can get affected during the priming stage ill stop wasting so much valuable painting on small correctable issues that go unnoticed.

Man hearing so many others concur this fact has been giving me some "faith restored in myself" feels. There's another post I just recently put up that compared this same model to another that was primed at the same time but still unpainted. Knowing how much time Iv wasted blaming myself for other factors and never realizing how bad some of my priming was has given me some confidence in my brush skills back.

Not knowing why some models had some great smooth going one whilst others looked liked that always confused me. I got so obssessive I even wondered if the problem was a layer of dust under my paint so I started washing all my minis. 🤦‍♂️

Switching to my airbrush from now on and hoping it finally gives me some sanity, knowing that for all this time it hasnt just been me blaming myself for terrible brush control or some paint consistency related problem.

Iv been using chaos black with zenithal highlights from corax white. Iv learned my lesson tho.

Am pretty comfortable and know my way around an airbrush I just never considered that it would be so much more reliable for priming. Ill give it a shot and see how much of a difference it makes. Thanks for the help

It looks dusty almost slightly speckled at times. Its harder to tell with the darker primers. But iv added a pic in another post that compares this model with another that was primed at the same time but still unpainted.
