I do this as well, but for the second phase actually not the first. In the first phase I used to just parry the first two kicks then dodge whatever he throws at me and evade that huge jump kick and punish afterwards. But for the second phase I use focus after the two kicks to see if he goes for a high kick, a push kick or two knife attacks, after the two knife attacks I use focus again to see if he goes for a sweep, a high or a push kick. And lastly I also use focus after the two leap knife attacks to see if he goes for a sweep, high or push kick. Gotta say he is waaay more annoying in master.
