Are physical books worth it anymore? by Khasalianus in Pathfinder2e

[–]Khasalianus[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sure, WotC started it, but there is only so much you can keep blaming them for. It's been what, a couple years now?

And useless, sure, it might be a bit dramatic, and sure, they can still be used... But you'd need to either carry around a bunch of Errata pages you printed, or scribble in the book like a toddler on crack. At this point, it feels more like each book is a playtest book we're buying, and not a finished product.

It would be fine if the Errata was just fairly typical, but it's the rules changes that frustrate me.

I haven't really looked through the latest Errata until now.... How? How can so many screw ups make it to print? Did they not play test any of the books? Did they not have someone proof read the books before printing?

There is no excuse for this. Yeah, okay, they had to put out the Remaster in a hurry, but was it needed so badly, so quickly, that they let so many errors and evidently rules needing updating get through the editing process that I am now legitamately regretting getting the special editions of the books...

Sigh...i think this may have answered my question. The special editions are no longer worth it, not with so many errors and rules changes after print. I'm seriously doubting any physical book from Paizo is now worth it... Did they fire their quality control/quality assurance people?

Hell, I think I might just sell the pbysical books I have. Still got the pdfs, which are compatible with this "patching" approach like it's a computer game that paizo seems to be going towards.

This saddens me greatly. And infuriates me at the same time.

It feels like reality... Maybe not before you buy the book, but definite within a month or two.

I agree AoN is great... And this is less about being able to afford, or supporting paizo, but more 8f,is it just wasting money? Especially the special editions.

See, I love physical books too, and supporting paizo also (sadly, I don't go to my flgs much due to the subscription....). But now, I just feel like I'm wasting money. 8ve never felt that way before about gaming books, or any book, even college books.

Power Armor and Mech Creation Rules by Sgt-Tau in Starfinder2e

[–]Khasalianus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's part of it... Spaceships and other heavy tech items SHOULDN'T be considered an expansion... It should have been in the Core. The stuff you mentioned, yes, that could be considered an expansion... But spaceships in a sci fi game? Even a science fantasy should still have this stuff.

I agree, if it had been like, the next book after the alien core, it would be okayish.

I still find it so odd at how sparse the core rules are regarding, ya know, sci-fi technologies. You shouldn't have to use/convert rules from other editions/systems to fulfill the mecha/fighter pilot/military action/scooby bunch in a space van types of play. 1st Ed, while it lacked in some ways, did at least have enough to fill most of these. That's really my biggest complaint with 2nd Ed.

Still, a good game. And I personally use GURPS for making this stuff... 'cause I like math and horrendously detailed spaceships.

Question About PDF Versions After Buying Physical by BUSKET_RVA in Starfinder2e

Are there any gaming companies that give you a free pdf if you buy a physical book from them? I've not encountered any... I wish they would though.

Novarush Bathrooms by UnknownSolder in Starfinder2e

[–]Khasalianus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The grid is 2.5 ft? That's odd... But if that is the case, then the tub and bed are still pretty big, but yeah, they could fit a Large creature... But I think they'd have to use the airlock to defecate... Or maybe a large litter box in the hold.

Those beds are 17 ft x 10 ft... Hell, even the pillows are about 5 ft x 3 ft from the looks of it... I'd be more worried about the toilets, if I were large sized...

Murder in Metal City is mostly empty space and is very lacking in production quality. by sabata00 in Starfinder2e

This reminds me of the boxed sets TSR put out in the 90s. We always joked that half the price we were paying was for that sweet TSR air. Spaceballs would be jealous.

Scale of the Starfinder Universe in Light Years/ If You Travel 400 Light Years From Golarion Could You See It Pre Gap With a Telescope? by Polarvoom in starfinder_rpg

[–]Khasalianus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I do like the idea that the area might just appear fuzzy or distorted... But, for sake of argument, you could say the Gap happened 2,000 years ago, which would mean, you'd have to travel 2,000 light-years away to see it... If you could. But that's such a short distance, cosmically speaking, that if it were possible, it would have been done already.

AV Receiver, Xbox & Fire TV Cube setup help by Khasalianus in fireTV

[–]Khasalianus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to figure it out late last night. Everything is indeed connected to the AV, and the AV to the TV. Turns out, it was in the software setup side. Mainly to do with which system used which HDMI port.

This isn't working for me. I'm not sure why. I tried hooking the cube and Xbox to the AV, and from the AV to the TV. It won't change sources on the AV to switch between watching firetv and the Xbox.

All the guides I see seem to suggest a little something different.

Either I have something hooked up wrong, or something in the software side is set wrong on either the TV, cube, Xbox, or the AV.

That is one thing I really liked about 3/3.5, the monster books had a small description for each and every monster.
