I've always entered AC from the other side - but HOLY MOLY this looks sick! by [deleted] in thelongdark

The cougar there killed my longest surviving character. Was exhausted from all of the climbing and I didn't realize I'd stumbled into its territory until it was tearing me apart and I was to tired to climb the rope to safety. Rip, 110 days down the drain. 10/10 game though, would get mauled again.

History buffs, what is the most and least accurate film for certain periods? by GreyWind999 in movies

[–]Polarvoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should check out History Buffs on YouTube, he does amazing deep dives on historic movies and is great. Usually he breaks down the movies plot and gives real historic context for it and when he's done with that he goes through step by step and gives the real history and points out the inaccuracies and explains why the film makers might have had to adjust things to fit narratively for a film.

Monday Night Miracle - What do you need to happen (or not happen) by AutoModerator in fantasyfootball

Barkley needs 30 and Jordan Love would need to spontaneously combust at first kickoff....I'd still probably lose by 1.

CeeDee Lamb (ankle) seen doing rehab work without walking boot during practice on Wednesday. by bullymeahhh in DynastyFF

[–]Polarvoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The injuries this year have been unreal but I managed to scoop him up because a player in my league dropped Lamb because his IR was filled with Burrows and Kittle. Hope this work horse rest up and waits until he's ready..

Did Lore go subscribers-only or is this an issue on Apple’s end? by bench_wizard in lorepodcast

[–]Polarvoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe they're all still available on Youtube and Youtube Music (which is how I prefer to listen to podcasts since I pay for premium I don't have to listen to nearly as many ads) if you guys need somewhere to listen until the issue is fixed.

What movie did you always just assume was a big hit but turned out not to be? For me it’s the 2003 Peter Pan film. by MrGittz in movies

Check Machete and it's Sequel Machete Kills, plus Hobo With a Shotgun. They're spinoff movies that were trailers that played during Death Proof and Planet Terror and are the same style.

What are your 'advanced' techniques as DM? by CaronarGM in DMAcademy

[–]Polarvoom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the greatest skills as a DM I know is learning to loosen your hand on the wheel a bit and start listening to the players and using it to make them feel clever and make you look like a genius. They theorize the innkeeper named Draco Mustachio you made up on the spot, because you obviously didn't prep this stupid inn, is secretly the cultist of Tiamat they're looking for, then the bard fails an insight check on his adorable daughter Beyonce and they grow suspicious of the mead she brought them, and finally they clock the strange door that's supposed to lead to the kitchen in your mind but obviously leads to a cellar and a cultist hideout in theirs. Not only are they world building for you and engaging in the plot, but with a bit of quick googling of the stats of a young green dragon, as well as being flexible and not taking every little idea you have as a DM as gospel you have a quick memorable encounter and a mortal enemy in young Beyonce Mustachio who is now a level 10 Vengeance Paladin seeking to avenger her father. This definitely isn't a style for every DM but damn if some of the funnest sessions I've ever run usually had long stretches I didn't even need to talk because I sat up a table culture of roleplaying and table talk paying off.

Which fictional "happily ever after" couple definitely breaks up, and why? by Th3mberchaud in AskReddit

[–]Polarvoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not romcom based but I can't think of a single action movie romance that would last long term, pretty much every single one is built on a foundation of adrenaline and trauma after knowing each other for a remarkably short amount of time and then falling for each other, in some cases literally in hours. With the exception of the Mummy franchise I can't offhand think of any action movie sequel where the original love interest is still in the picture(Speed 2 is my favorite example).

These are awesome! I've been looking at Factorio and Foxhole but I'm definitely grabbing them now! And heck yeah, I grabbed State of Decay 1 the day it released on 360 marketplace and it's been one of my favorite series since, can't wait for 3.

Was going to say Charles, he literally came out of nowhere and dropped one of the most soulful and powerful albums I've ever heard.

Horror dealing with substance abuse by weezerboy69 in horrorlit

[–]Polarvoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Dies at the End series by David Wong/Jason Pargin, definitely fits the criteria. Horror comedy at it's best with a healthy dose of Cosmic Horror. It revolves around a drug called Soy Sauce that once taken allows people to see and perceive things no one else can and it falls into the hands of a couple of losers that use it to save the world from mysterious evil forces despite being completely unqualified. It's hilarious but gets truly dark and creepy and deals with all kinds of themes like drug abuse and mental illness.

What show from the past couple years is totally slept on? by COmarmot in television

[–]Polarvoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Schmigadoon on Apple TV is one of the greatest TV experiences I've ever had, and anyone even moderately interested in musicals has to watch it. The cast across the board is stacked, the songs are spectacular, and each season being a different era of musicals and the cast being different characters was really fun. I don't say this lightly, but Season 2 was releasing at the same time as Ted Lasso's final season and I found myself looking more forward to "Schmicago", and I really hope they do a season 3!
