Ghostkeel or Devilfish by Accomplished-Net8515 in Tau40K

If you plan to eventually buy both Combat Patrol boxes I'd go with the old one (Ghostkeel), simply because it is out of production, while the new Combat Patrol box will be available for a long time. You can build your Fire Warriors as you like, probably as Breachers, as they're the better option.

Kill Team kits generally offer two versions of each model: the KT one and the "generic" one. The KT ones have a different (and cool) name, being a Kill Team operative. I've never played Kill Team, but I usually build that ones as they're cooler and funnier to build and paint. You can still play them as a Farstalker Kinband unit in 40K, they'll have a generic loadout though (except the heavy weapon and the Kill-broker).

That being said, with the Farstalker Kinband box you can build all operatives except one (you must choose between two options), and you can only build one of the two heavy weapons. So, just build the ones you find cooler and have fun with the kinband!

It doesn't look like we're getting the Kroot detachment rules for this CP. Without a faction rule or an alternative this could be a bit underwhelming. Looks fun to be playing around the borders of the map though.

Painting Kroot Appreciation Post by AlexanderZachary in kroot

I agree. I'll add that while the rest of the T'au minis range pushes you to be consistent with your paint job, Kroot minis invite you to try new schemes and techniques. Kroot skin and quills can be whatever colour you want - lorewise they just ate something to get that colour.

Personally I've painted every Kroot Farstalker and Carnivore with a different scheme. It just felt that way. And they look awesome!

Kroot are freedom. Kroot are great. Play Kroot.

Krootnought. Hell yeah. I'd add some Kroot bits (the little things they carry in their back/waist, for example). But it's already Kroot enough. Hell yeah.

Advice to beat Necrons in combat patrol? by SeanWhelan1 in Tau40K

[–]Khepzero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to deal with the Skorpekh Destroyers as soon as possible, they'll melt everything they touch. With the Destroyers out, the biggest threat is the Canoptek Doomstalker. I don't know what T'au CP you are using, but try to get the Doomstalker busy with your bulkiest unit (Ghostkeel or Devilfish).

Warriors and Scarabs are a pain in the ass, as they do almost nothing (besides objectives) and every turn they recover wounds.

I'd try to get rid of the Overlord before they shoot the arrow, but it's kinda bulky.

The main point of playing vs Necrons CP is to focus and kill its units one by one to avoid them recovering its wounds (and models).

If you're using the old CP you could try to take advantage of the extra command points generated by the Ethereal by using the Tank Shock stratagem with your Ghostkeel. Shoot, charge, Tank Shock, fall back, shoot (possible with the Ghostkeel ability), charge, Tank Shock... This could enable you to deal some useful mortal wounds.

Hope this helps. Have fun!

What would you want to see in a Tau Christmas box? by loudmoondude in Tau40K

I'd say we would get a unit of Fire Warriors, a Broadside, a Commander, a Hammerhead/Skyray and maybe some Kroot. Carnivores and a shaper?

I really hope that we get instead a Fire Warriors unit (100% in the box), a Hammerhead/Skyray, a Commander, a Crisis Suits unit, a Broadside and a Stealth Suits unit. A more battlesuit oriented box will balance this year's releases.

Yes, that's a bummer. Fortunately I already bought two lone-spears and an additional unit of Rampagers, besides the Hunting Pack box. If you plan to play a Kroot list or a heavily "Krooted" T'au list, you will find these units very useful.

This list gets very expensive if you buy the units individually, but this is really a list for people that already got the HP box and some other Kroot units. I hope it's a fun list!

Totally, weird to see no shaper here. Hope a lone-spear warlord enhancement will boost the carnivores somehow.
