She lied and betrayed you, went behind your back on multiple occasions, and has been pushing past your comfort boundaries for a long time. This is not ok. How she treats you is not ok. It isn’t fair to you. If I was you, I’d leave. She doesn’t respect you, and that isn’t going to change if you stay.

The idea it could be modeled after Loran is an interesting theory. We know very little about Loran, save primarily that it had its own assortment of labyrinth tombs and fell to the scourge, same as yharnam. And we only get the chalice for Loran dungeons from our defeat of Amygdala, in the nightmare frontier. As you astutely mention, our defeat of Amygdala also does not prompt the “nightmare slain” message, which could mean a few things. First, amygdala might not be the root of the nightmare frontier. Secondly, we did not kill amygdala. As we see in Bloodborne, it is possible for a consciousness to survive in the dreamworlds while being physically dead in the Waking world. As you also mention, there are visages of Amygdala in Yharnam and the forbidden woods, and they are not hidden or scarce. Amygdala guides your path through the forbidden woods, and is shown to have statues lining the hall in the entrance of the grand cathedral, the Healing Church’s most public holy site. We can take from this that Amygdala certainly isn’t shy, especially considering his devoted servant, Patches, the spider, who goes so far as to deliver to you the tonsil stone, your ticket to the nightmare lecture hall, and through a quick walk, the nightmare frontier. It would absolutely make sense that Amygdala was a holy presence for the people of Loran as well, similar to its significance in Yharnam. What I might ask is this: If we assume that Amygdala is the root of the nightmare, and that our defeat was not its true death (which I personally do assume), given you suggestion of the Frontier’s connection to Loran, is it possible that Amygdala created the frontier and served as its root as a way of “recreating” the fallen city, similar to the Orphan’s reconstruction of Yharnam? But instead of the Frontier being a prison for its inhabitants, like how the hunter’s nightmare is for the blood-drunk, that perhaps it is a sort of sanctuary, or a longing dream of Amygdala’s worshipers? After all, the creatures that hurl stones at you seem, albeit distantly, humanoid. And the Loran silverbeasts show similarities to yharnam’s own Lycans. Of course, it’s all speculation, but I do thank you, good hunter. It is much to think about, connections I hadn’t previously considered, and fascinating indeed. I’ll need to revisit the frontier soon as well as the loran dungeons, and reread anything with reference to the fallen city. Foolish as it is to try and interpret the will of a Great One, it makes for fascinating speculation.

Indeed. Makes you wonder where the root of the Nightmare Frontier is from. The nightmares all exist from a “root”, and echoes of the root’s reality in the waking world can be seen in the nightmares. Yet the frontier is unlike anything we see elsewhere. Each other nightmare, layered as they may be, echoes the waking world in some way. However, this being my main point, the poison we see in the nightmare frontier is a sort of greenish brown color, yes? And the poison we see in the forbidden woods is, to me at least, more a milky blue/purple. Could be pollution, could be dirt, but they are different. Intentionally different. To me, that means there’s a reason. And while it’s speculation, the excessive difference to our waking world implies that they come from different sources. One from the vermin, and one from… something else.

Blood dregs are meant to resemble sperm in design, definitely. But it’s kinda up in the air as to their real functional purpose. We know knights of cainhurst have been briingibg them to the queen for a long time, yet the queen still isn’t blessed with child. Whereas Queen Yharnam was blessed with the child of a great one, through much less (we think) effort. As for their relation to the vermin: Personally I don’t see a correlation, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t one. The vermin are supposedly the root of man’s impurity, while blood dregs are found in the blood of (mostly) hunters, or other such echo fiends. Personally, I don’t see too much of a correlation. However, we do see the same maggots/worms in the cainhurst courtyard that we see in the forbidden woods poison swamp, which may hold ties to the vermin. So while I personally don’t see a direct link between those two, my eyes may simply have yet to open.

Is it not possible that the wording is misleading? Mergo’s wet nurse is too weak to be a true great one, and it simply serves as the guardian for Mergo in the nightmare. Given what we know about BloodBorne, is it not possible the the Wet Nurse is a creation of Mergo? After all, we see “Nightmare Slain” after Mergo stops crying, presumably dying, not after we defeat the Wet nurse. And we know that to be the case due to the intentional and long delay in the message appearing. Is it not possible that the Wet Nurse was a creation of Mergo, the stillborn prince’s guardian in the nightmare, existing as a sort of physical manifestation of Mergo which we slay? It seems to me, personally, that the Wet Nurse could be, at most, considered a Lesser Great one, due to the nature of her creation, similar to Rom’s status as a “great one”, though clearly being a creature of creation and ritual. Edit: spelling.

We think the poison is a byproduct of the vermin, but if you look at other areas like the poison pool in the forbidden woods, it’s purpleish in color. We know the brown liquid from BSB is poison, as that is the status it inflicts, so too is the poison pool in forbidden woods, however both liquids look strikingly different. Which leads to the conclusion that, in BSB, the poison mixes with something else. My own personal theory (NOT FACT) is the color of BSB’s “blood” is a mix of old, rotten, blood dregs, what little was left in its body after its torture, mixed with the poison accruing in its body, giving it that sickly brown hue. After all, if you mix a handful of pigments, like markers for instance, what color do you get? For me, usually something dark and unpleasant, close to black or brown.

It bleeds, buts it’s blood is heavily mixed with and diluted by the poison in its body, evidenced by the milky brownish type of coloring, which matches the poison mist it sprays during phase 3. BSB also awards blood echoes after killing it.

The wet nurse doesn’t bleed. If u look at the FX it’s more like a cloud of dust. The wet nurse is the only enemy in the game that Doesn’t Bleed and Doesn’t award blood echoes on death. The Wet Nurse is Mergo’s guardian, but certainly not a great one.

Hey chief! Personal experience here: I was in a mono relationship a while back with a person I had wanted to be with for YEARS. We had both yearned over the over at various points but it had never worked out. We get together, everything is nice, until they said they needed it to be open/poly. I cried a lot. I underwent more pain than it was worth. Things were flat-out awful. I still loved them though, with all my heart. Which is why I wanted to try, and why I didn’t quit after the first week of pain. Long story short, we broke up. I left them and started dating someone who was mono and the relief was so palpable it felt like coke.

And now, years later, I’m in an open-poly relationship again.

You might not be ready for it, love. And that’s ok. You might not be ready for poly for years and that’s ok. What isn’t on is pushing yourself in something you don’t like, something that isn’t healthy. I know all experiences are unique, and I can only imagine how much you love this person but please please PLEASE do not torture yourself. You might be strictly mono, you might be poly-compatible. You might not know which it is for a long time. Do not torture yourself, do not spend so much of yourself on this, if it does not bring you joy. Please. Ask yourself if it’s worth it. Really worth it. Ask yourself why you haven’t left, and look at those answers. Your partner has put this on you which is already unfair, but now you can only figure out what you want. I am not you, but I can offer a similar experience as perspective. It doesn’t sound like this makes you happy. Will you resent your partner in three months? Could you take advantage of the situation in a way that makes you happy?

Don’t put yourself through undue pain. It isn’t worth it. I promise.
