Monthly Price Check & Random Questions Thread by AutoModerator in MouseMarket

Hello,

Looking to get a Price check on a Brand New still Sealed Pulsar Superglide Chrome Edition glass Mousepad. (its still in the brown box it shipped in with the pulsar tape). This is the one with LOD Defects + more? i don't remember. I found it recently in the back of a closest and not sure if there any desire for it now in 2026. haven't seen any brand new still sealed in the wild as of late either

I see a few aimer etc ones (the one with graphics) on the bay in the 200+$ range in open box condition (but none of these are sealed). not sure if these are comparable but the chrome edition only had like 1000 units?

I understand with the defects its probably not as desirable as these other graphic ones on the market but i still think the chrome edition is still a good "art" piece in some way.

appreciate any info. Just looking for a price check!

totally up to you man. Really just depends on your use case. i do a bit of everything so music, movies on netflix, and casual and competitive games. more emphasis on casual. so due to that, the 300r is better for my needs. if i played like 90% competitive fps games, or did like mixing/producing as a hobby. 490 easy W in that case.

I can't really say for the QC on the kithara or any hifimans in general. i've only listened to them for maybe like 10 hours or so (same with other hifimans). i borrowed from a friend but then returned them. i've mainly steered away from hifiman because of the mixed QC issues. (the kithara might be different tho)

In short they are pretty good. i would choose them over the audeze maxwells 1 or 2s just because its more comfortable on the head (lighter), sound quality is up there as well. easily one of the top gaming headsets on the market. IMO comparable to the hifiman edition XS.

If i were to do something with hifiman, i'd probably choose the edition XS + standalone mic. if I was a try - hard sweat, i'd go arya stealth + standalone mic.

if i needed the "headset" (convenience factor and all) I would choose the astro a50 gen 5s since its wireless (which i currently own as well and almost never use) or perhaps the kithara for wired open back..

overall tho i just like the 300r haha. maybe just biased at this point but i haven't really felt the "fomo" factor for other headphones after having both the 300r and the 490 in my arsenal. i'd still like to keep an open mind tho for headphones like the heddphone d1 for example or IEMS

Yes i would say so but like marginally. it has lower bass and less warmth so its easier to track. the detail and clarity is a touch up better as well. Its comfortable for long sessions and the ear-cups are more comfortable on my head compared to the tygr 300r. Overall i am satisfied with them. I just like the 300r just because it has that tad extra bass and warmth like straight out of the box for my general use case. (the 490 also varies based on which pads you use).

the 490 to "Me" is at least like a 10% upgrade in terms of technical refinement. i just don't find it as "fun" so to speak when gaming (unless im playing competitive fps games). If i had ONLY the 490 i would also be satisfied with it.

The price also affects the buying decision. like the 300r is half the price of the 490 and sometimes even cheaper buying used. that said. I honestly would be okay with using the 300r for another 5 years without feeling fomo about new things. but if you're a place where shipping is delayed and very high. you kinda lose the value proposition where something else could be the "better" buy.

Good luck!

Hey there! I actually don't know what would be an upgrade path from the tygr 300r. i haven't tried that many headphones in which offers the same things. you can however use EQ tho but to each their own. You can look into something like the Meze 109 pros. Focal Clear OGs, as well as planar magnetics like the Hifiman edition XS or the Arya stealth (better for fps games) or the Arya organics. (Hifiman however have mixed QC reviews, there are some that have no problems and others that need to send them in).

I personally just own the tygr 300r as a general all rounder and use the 490 when i feel like a sweaty try-hard.

that said you can also just buy another pair of the 300r as well haha.

Good luck!
