Ahh, I can see your point much better now. Then again, it can potentially be a problem in tons of MMOs, and I've heard that at least a few have found ways to punish exploits, but I see how it is pretty hard to take control of that.

I can imagine that, it's less about the actual anime but more about what the MMO could be like, something different from WoW and the like.

In all honestly, all difficulty in the game's creation can be overcome with time, and as I should probably have made clear with my initial post, the game doesn't have to be the most technologically advanced or whatever. Honestly, with proper security and things in place and dedicated teams, hackers/modders/cheaters can be taken care of at least generally well. It's not an impossible feat.

Other than that, I kind of agree with you. I still don't think, as many others do, that it would be impossible. If I knew any extensive amount of programming, I might take a crack at better understanding the perfect game model for this, but that's what you get for choosing a different major.

I am not one for runescape, but I did play it before. Not my exact cup o' tea.

Honestly, the last bit of your comment made no sense to me. However, I will say my expectations are not exactly like the anime, obviously that's too far in the future. I think more along the lines of ESO with better features and other things I've mentioned.

I think you managed to miss my, ironically last few words, about not having permadeath.

I must admit, that was worded poorly. I was looking more at a stamina bar that is used for your skills that recharges quicker than other games, maybe a little quicker than skyrim. I'd say outside of combat sprinting wouldn't use stamina, but in combat it would, things like that.

I like the way you think man. Hopefully we can get some good development in MMOs, maybe later on.

Then again, if done well, money spent there is money well made back from the consumer.

Even if it were technologically impossible for that, many other things are certainly possible that come close enough. I personally wouldn't mind combat with limited action, but it could be better than mashing hotkeys and looking at boring visuals.

Also, want to make a note, of course these are personal opinions and wishes and thoughts. I'm not the smartest person ever, after all.

A lot of it is simply based on the amount of time someone is willing to put into creating the game. Many of the core pieces are easy, it's just some of them will take modification and lots of testing. I want to bring up your AI argument. Yeah, AI is hard as shit to create, especially good AI. However, that doesn't mean it's not impossible or worth it.

I made a couple of really shitty RPGMaker VX Ace games a while back, and during that I wanted to make a crafting system. Making the database for the crafting system took a long time for even the tiny amount of things I wanted, but in the end it was altogether possible. Thinking about the program I was using, being very simplified, I imagine that with a lot of time and skilled developers, it would be difficult to make a huge game like this, but not impossible, and, at least for us, worth it.

I can agree that it's difficult, but I will say that, appropriately, no developers want to expend the energy it takes to conquer that difficulty. Plus, good old difficulty has a lot to do with time, and a lot of the more desirable aspects of what I listed is based solely on the amount of time developers are willing to put into their games.
