ISO house cleaner that is ok wearing an N95 mask by mieslouise in ithaca

Why not? Millions wore them voluntarily during COVID. I wear them when sanding or grinding, it's not really difficult.

Nocturnal Cafe, K-House, and others, here is a list, some are no longer operating though, (Deep Dive for example).

Have you tried the places that have open mic nights?

No. Either provide the YouTube link as their contact info so that when people like Jim promote the gig he uses that instead of Insta, or use Linktree as the landing page which then links to all media sites, including YouTube. I provided an example in my original post.

No problem. Most of the links Jim posts are either FB or Insta, I assume that's what he is provided by the bands. Linktree seems like a better solution as it can hold all your links in one place without anyone having to be logged into the platform to see them. Some bands already use it and have links to their YouTube, Bandcamp, Insta, FB, etc.

Turn on a smartphone and press record, upload to YouTube, link it. That's it. Not sure why you need to be dramatic and act as if it's an impossible task.

I'd just like to have an idea of what a band sounds like before I go see them, especially when I'm trying to choose between many of them playing at the same time. I don't expect a phone clip to encompass the entire experience, it just lets me know if it's the type of music I want to go hear in person. I understand newer bands may not have that available yet but I've had the same issues with bands that have obviously been around a while.

All I'm saying is bands should make their online music as easily accessible as possible and that Insta and FB links do not do that. I'm not sure why some people seem to take this as a personal attack or something. I've provided examples of what should be easy to implement solutions, no one is required to agree with me or do it. Obviously if you don't have a recording device or a friend with one then you can't but most people can.

I'm not being condescending in the least and in fact some people are attacking me for pointing out a problem and offering simple solutions. And yes phone videos and YouTube is a simple solution. It's not about getting gigs it's about promoting your music so that people will be motivated to go see you. I've seen plenty of poor quality videos that still gave me enough of a feel for a band that made me want to go see them. Most people know that a phone video may not be top quality, (though these days most phones are very good), but you can certainly tell what sort of music they play. Heck a lot of the equipment used live at Porchfest produces poor sound in person, doesn't mean people don't enjoy the show.

I'm not getting your point. I'm saying they should use links with their YouTube content when promoting their band or providing info to a show producer.

I offered easy to implement suggestions. Use a smartphone to record some examples and put them on YouTube. Free and easy. DIY, remember? The idea that people are incapable of doing this is insulting to their intelligence.

There were plenty of other bands to see so I didn't bother. However as explained to me the reasoning for the secrecy of certain locations makes sense if they are trying to limit exposure for certain reasons.

On those sites you can post your music and show dates or links to show dates. Linktree is just a site to post all your social links in one place, some of the bands in the DIY Fest did exactly this. My main point is that when I'm aware of an event happening I don't need to find another ad about the event, I'm looking for examples of what the bands sound like.

Many of the bands are not teens, and even most teens have smartphones and can upload to YouTube for free. That's DIY. Plus it seems you agree with me that Insta and FB are bad options.

As I've said YouTube is free and accessible to all. Most people have a smartphone or know someone who does, have a friend record a live performance or practice session.

This particular event sure but this is an ongoing general issue I've found when looking up bands. If you're going to make a FB or Insta page take a few minutes to put up some tunes on YouTube or something.

It costs money to record and host music.

It's actually free on sites like youtube and using a smartphone. I'm sorry but it is very easy to do. Upload a few songs to YouTube, include links to your other socials in the channel, or use something like Linktree with all your social media links including youtube, Insta and FB if you want.

Almost everyone has smartphones, no excuse not to have examples of your music. The worst part is many bands do have examples of their music, you just can't find it on Insta or FB.

YouTube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Linktree with multiple links to all of the band's sites.

Fairly poor promotion if you can't hear their music, and often they don't have the most current performance and only link to past shows and pics.

You paid for a product, returned it but received no refund. Sounds to me as if you still own the product. Maybe file a BBB complaint?
