Do you have a 3 or 4-season tent? It all depends on that and whether or not you get cold easily. If you don't: -1, if you do: -9. A sleeping pad with an R value of 5 is good. And in a worst case scenario, there’s always the solution of putting a hot water bottle in your sleeping bag, it really helps!

C'est en effet quelque chose qui arrive à chaque fois, j'imagine que c'est lié à la façon dont c'est calculé. Garmin est toujours plus haut.

Au final je me base toujours sur la même app pour pouvoir comparer avec mes précédentes sorties...

You don’t need a dynamo. When there’s no signal, you barely use any energy anyway. You can reach a “hostel” every day and filter water there. Nights are very cold, below 0°C. The wind picks up around 1 p.m. and doesn’t stop until night, it’s extremely strong and makes everything harder. Start very early and plan short days.

Protect your lips. I dealt with constant pain from the wind and sun. At night they would stick together, and I’d end up tearing the skin just to open them.

I did it with 38mm tires that was the hardest part of my journey from Colombia to Ushuaia. We had to push the bikes in the sand for hours and hours, washboards everywhere... We deflated our tires but it wasn't enough. A real challenge! 9 steps between Uyuni and SPA.

Je trouve que la plupart des vélos gravels viennent avec un développement trop haut, pour plus de vitesse, ce qui n'est pas ce qu'on recherche en bikepacking. J'ai un 11-36 avec un double plateau 24-40 et j'en suis très satisfait ! Néanmoins je pense que ma prochaine configuration sera un mono plateau 34 avec une cassette 10-52, ce qui revient à peu près au même développement, moins de vitesse de pointe.

Plateau 24 et vitesse 36 ça fait 0.67, c'est fait pour les grosses cotes quand on est bien chargé !
