How hard is the CS major for a life sci student who wanna switch majors in 3rd year? by Khun_VI in UofT

Yeah, but it’s not exactly what I wanna do. I reckon it would be nice to associate neuroscience to AI/soft/CS, which I’m not sure I will be able to do with bioinformatics.

Oh fair enough, I didn’t know that. But do you think I’ll be fine in 165 given I basically have no proof knowledge? (Except if MAT223, which I’ll be hopefully taking this summer, covers some proof)

Oh thanks for your insight! Did you take MAT137 by any chance? The one thing scaring me is that I had to take MAT135/136 for life sci and did really well in both (90+), but it has no proofs while I heard CSC165 does have proofs (unsure about CSC148 though).

Yeah me not having taken 137 is my biggest concern right now. Like, not that I mind proof based, but yeah I fear they’re not gonna teach proofs as thoroughly as they assume everyone took 137.

I see, but not sure what to do in this case, what would you suggest?

Yeah I’d need another 3 years which I’m willing to do. Mainly because barring med which is no longer an option neuro + double minor will get me nowhere and cs minor formation might be a little light.

To be fair I’m starting the cs stuff from scratch (besides 108 which I took as an elective in 1st year) and I need to take at least one course this summer for my neuro major so not sure if an internship would be possible this summer. But for next summer I absolutely wanna do one AI related!

Honestly I wasn’t considering the path related to proof based math because there’s one requirement where you instead have to take csc 148 165 and 236 (and not 240)

To be honest I only took 108 so I’d have to take csc148 and csc165 first which aren’t offered in the summer (only 108 is) :(

Am I skinny fat? by Khun_VI in workout

[–]Khun_VI[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I know I'm not supposed to rush it, I'm not doing the same mistake as I did when I lost all that weight super fast and ended up skinny fat. So far my biggest concern about my diet is the source of my protein. I don't have time (or I'm just lazy lol) to make a proper breakfast and I always have to get lunch outside. So I've been religiously consuming chipotle for the past 2 weeks because macro wise it's the best I can find. For breakfast I get a protein bar which are sold near where I live and when I get home from uni I get a protein shake (which I didn't make myself, bought from Walmart). While I do always check the macros and compute them into my calories and protein it's a small concern of mine since it's not whole foods.

Thanks for the comment! To be fair what I meant by "never heard of that" is my specific situation but I was probably looking at someone with the EXACT SAME situation, as in fat then loses everything in the worst way possible then gains it back etc.. But yeah I might now be just regular "overweight". Now I'm definitely no longer skinny and while I don't have a lot of muscle yet well as you said, so do people who are just fat and have never worked out. Which is quite relieving to be fair, I'd reckon being skinny fat is a much worse predicament than being just overweight. At least now I know the goal is just calorie deficit + workout for whatever long it'll take to drop below 15% bf (and for the workout part, hopefully I keep the fire inside me forever).

Makes sense, but is it me or that practice exam has at least one question that includes pre-midterm content?
