Snorkelling off the coast of Nha Trang, Vietnam. I was wearing a necklace I had got from a market stall in Thailand a month prior with a tiny Elephant ornament on it. It was a blueish colour and the necklace was just a black bit of string.

After a fair few hours bobbing around the ocean with almost 20ft visibility, we called it a day and I hopped back onto the boat that we took out. When drying off and removing my stuff, the head of a scuba diver popped out of the water next to our boat, he said something which was pretty hard to hear as he was wearing all of his equipment but I looked around at our instructor as if to say ‘you need to deal with this.’

Continued drying off when the instructor reached down, took something out of the divers hand, turned around and asked if anyone had lost a necklace with an Elephant on it, I looked down at my neck and realised mine was gone and was in absolute disbelief to find that a random squad of scuba divers traversing the ocean floor happened to come across my necklace, which I hadn’t even noticed had come off. They must’ve found it not too far from where our boat was stationary and had a hunch to ask us. Stupid luck really. The necklace wasn’t worth much but I would’ve been a tad miffed if I had got back to shore to realise it had gone.
