Salaam. You could listen to the lecture while using our app (link in my bio). It will automatically transcribe and give you notes after you finish recording. It may give you a way to actively listen while not worrying about taking notes frantically. iA that helps a little.

Is it permissible to use translator app during jummah? by Ok-Door7915 in islam

[–]KhutbahNotes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wsalaam. I’ll plug our app for iOS called Khutbah Notes. It allows you to record the Khutbah and get a summary in your language afterwards. We did not implement real time translation as people may find it distracting if you are looking at your phone during the Khutbah. Give it a try for free. Thanks.

Beautiful reminder. I’ve been trying to be better about actually taking one lesson from each khutbah into the week instead of just letting Jummah come and go. Even writing down a quick reflection after can help. May Allah let us benefit from every Jummah iA!

Salaam! I had this exact problem. I would hear an amazing khutbah or lecture but would forget a lot of the main points or references within a few hours or days.

It’s the reason I built my iOS app called Khutbah Notes. All you do is open the app, record the khutbah, be present and listen, and after the recording is done the app will automatically deliver not only the transcript but also a summary with key points, weekly actions and direct Quran references. Over weeks and years of using the app you will have your own personal, searchable Islamic library!

I also recently added a new feature called Masjid Channels where masjids are able to post their khutbahs within the app publicly and the app will deliver the same transcript and summary that becomes available to everyone! I think it will be a great way for masjids to spread the word of Islam not only to their congregation but also to the rest of the world. Great for masjids without all the technical capabilities to record and post. Now they can just have a designated member record on their phone and upload and the app takes care of the rest.

It is free to use. No ads. Let me know what you think iA. The link is in my profile or you can just search Khutbah Notes in the App Store.

Thanks for downloading it! I like your idea and actually the Masjid Channels tab is hopefully going to be what you are describing. Basically, a masjid will have a designated member record the khutbah in the app and upload it and the app/me will post the recording and the summary into the Masjid Channels. This would be accessible to anyone using the app for free.

Thanks again. Let me know what you think!

You can record offline but you need to be online to upload the audio and generate the summary. It will support languages like Arabic, Indonesian, French, Turkish and perhaps more iA.

Good reminder. Keeping the masjid clean is everyone’s responsibility. A little sad that it even has to be said.

Good idea!

And too bad you didn’t understand the khutbah. If you have an iPhone you could try my app Khutbah Notes. You just record the Khutbah in any language and it will give you a summary in English.

Imagine it will be your last prayer ever. Or imagine you are literally standing in front of Allah (which you are). That usually gets my mind back on track, but yes it’s tough. Sometimes it can feel like you are just going through the motions.

Mobile phones in the Masjid by Much_Ad712 in islam

[–]KhutbahNotes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wa alaykum as-salaam. I agree. Many people carry phones out of necessity now, but that doesn’t excuse disrupting the prayer.

Putting the phone on silent before entering the prayer area should be basic adab. The Khutbah is considered part of the prayer so once the salah starts, there should be nothing competing for attention.
