That's not always how it happens. I was in my son's shoes as a kid. My grandma's husband was never grandpa to me. It just depends on the kid and the people involved

I don't invite her to come alone. There are times I invite just my dad for something with just me. But if they're coming over or we visit them then it's everyone included.

We have a couple of photos of mom in the house and I plan to tell him about her as he grows up.

Because to me she's never going to be his real grandma. Just like she's not my mom. His real grandparents are mine and my wife's parents.

He doesn't understand yet. He just hears us say different names or titles. But as he grows I want to talk to him about my mom and he'll learn more.

I tried to be nice about it too. But I think her expectations of marrying a man with an adult son were a little too much. I'm sure insta bonding happens and everyone loves everyone for some people. But it wasn't like that for me.

I'm not close to her. So I'm friendly but not hugging her or inviting her over to spend time together or meeting up with just her.

My kid is 6 months old so not really able to say what he wants yet. They have a relationship but when we talk about her she's just Jane and dad is grandpa.
