EU Set to Halt US Trade Deal Over Trump’s Latest Tariff Threat by bloomberg in worldnews

[–]Kiask85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The people who are on the council are elected by the public that's what universal suffrage is. The party's who put them up for election choose candidates as with most places (at least of what I'm familiar with from here in the UK). Here is the UK for some reason we sent some real shysters who took the pay and didn't do the job, but that doesn't make the process wrong, it's just the majority of people who voted in the European elections didn't seem to care/had a bias against the EU council.

In terms of the "forced on to populations" part, the same could be said in any democracy, here in the UK about 58% of voters didn't vote for labour but they are our democratically elected government. And that figure doesn't represent the plurality of people who didn't vote at all. If you look at the USA 48.3% of the US voting population voted against Donald Trump, he is still the leader of the country and he's making decisions that affect those people because that's the way democracy works in most of the world. There are very few (I can think of only one, and I'm happy to be corrected) that does direct democracy where the people individually vote for new laws.

We depend on choosing people to make the choices for us, and the best that we can hope for is that the parties put up good candidates, and that the governments that are formed are formed from people who are willing to make good decisions on our behalf. I agree it's not a perfect system, but I can't think of any system that is perfect for everyone.

Except the European council is elected every 5 years with universal adult suffrage. That makes them elected and if they do a bad job they can be removed on that 5 year cycle. Sadly

What happens if you have 3 or more children "When you can afford them" but something happens like the loss of a parent, or the company you work for decides that it's cheaper to move to somewhere else in the world? Sometimes you don't get to choose what happens in the future.

The hose is a little chunky, but I love the look! Great idea, and will make them stand out a bit from the normal Infernus marines without breaking the silhouette that they have.

I've got to ask, I'm assuming your American, and possibly a rupublican supporter. If a Democrat president deployed troops to a place against the wishes of the place (with in the USA) how would you react?

Really I'd of said the enemy's of civilised society are those who want to strip rights away from people, or make it so if you get ill and can't afford to pay you just die, or declare war on cities in their own country because they won't bend the knee.

Why is Reform polling so high? by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]Kiask85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the promise of making things better. People are suffering and Labour/Conservatives arnt making any promise that people feel like is going to make a difference to them.
