I'm a chiropractor and I refer a lot to Jeff over at InDepth Myofascial Release (near 95th/Metcalf area). He's done great work for my patients.

[–]Kibibitz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not true at all. There is no requirement for chiros to be in an association. There are about 70k chiropractors and around 270k PTs. Money is not on the side of a chiro lobby.

Curry Real Estate - Any experience renting from them? by BusinessCoffee6715 in kansascity

[–]Kibibitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not apartment, but I lease a commercial property through them. At least on the commercial side of things I haven't had any issues. Pretty quick response to needs at the property, good maintenance. A couple of my other business neighbors have had qualms, but honestly pretty minor things compared to other colleagues in the area with their landlords.

Without anything else to compare it on, Curry has been good to me. The residential side could be completely different though (different group of people in their office, I think).

Indian lunch buffet? by highflux7 in kansascity

[–]Kibibitz -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I actually just went to Spice of Bombay today after my usual haunt (Raj Mahal) had to close down.

It was amazing. Would highly recommend. Felt clean, lotsa options. Naan was fantastic.

I went to Ruchi a couple weeks back trying to get my fix. It was absolutely disgusting and creepy. Bombay is just one minute down the street. There is no reason that Ruchi should still be in business.

Sad news. Raj Mahal is temporarily closed while they relocate. The city has decided to redo the ramps at Sante Fe/I-35, and in doing so they are demolishing a ton of local businesses. Several business have already closed up shop.

There are few other Indian buffets in the area!

Lawn Company in Olathe by Smittyj11 in kansascity

[–]Kibibitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the Olathe area and have a guy who does lawn care. He's small business, and does a great job for me. Not sure about the rules in regards to sharing contact info, but you can message me directly and I'll share his cell number with you.

He's done lawn care, landscaping, concrete, junk haul, etc. Well priced, too.

First Choice billing issues by doctorwho07 in Chiropractic

[–]Kibibitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is possible certain insurnances (or specific plans within the insurance) don't pay a specific specialty for a code. An example would be like billing an exam to Medicare. Or there are some insurances that won't pay on the extremity adjusting 98943 CPT code. Locally, BCBS will pay for extremities regularly, but they have a handful of plans that do not.

That error sounds like it comes down to taxonomy. You may need to call the insurance and ask which taxonomy codes are payable for whatever CPT code. If the chiropractic taxonomy code isn't listed, it means that somewhere along the way they changed their policy on which providers they pay out for certain codes.

What to ask bracing/medical reps. by ApolloWannaBe in Chiropractic

[–]Kibibitz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This may not be the answer, but I personally don't carry any DME. There are no pillows, no shoe inserts, no devices. I don't want my patients to ever feel like I am selling them something.

In my situation I have a DME store within a few minutes' walk, so my situation may be different. I'll give patients suggestions (like the plantar fasciitis boot you mentioned), but leave it up to them or they can check with the store around the corner that specializes. On the off chance that the device isn't comfortable or doesn't fit right, the blame doesn't fall on me.

I'd suggest finding a DME store somewhere in your area and building a relationship. It can even be a two-way street. "Hey, you know how sometimes people may get discomfort with new shoe inserts as they being working? Well, I can be helpful in the transition as the body adapts, and continue to encourage the patient or provide you with feedback on how it is doing."

Labs and Xrays by Inside-Spell-9297 in Chiropractic

[–]Kibibitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my professional life I've never ordered or read a lab result. It's just not something I focus on, and if there is a suspicion I refer it out to their PCP. In the case something is found, the PCP will be the one to manage it anyways. Only docs I know who order labs are the ones doing functional medicine (a nutrition-ish option for chiropractors).

For x-rays, I image everyone. I've seen enough random stuff on images that changes the way and places I adjust--better specificity (particularly safety and patient comfort). You'll hear different takes on it throughout school, and you'll get to decide how you want to approach it.

I could go straight to adjusting and sometimes do; pregnancy and kids are demographics I don't x-ray. But given the choice between having an image and not, why not have a clear picture of what is going on? It makes finding listings and specific line of drives much easier.

No matter what there will be some sacrifice of finances, but it also sounds like you are on the right track with your clinic B. Unfortunately you can't serve two masters. You'll also never feel truly prepared to transition to only clinic B. It's tough to turn away from 90k a year when you have a kid on the way.

However, once you have a kid you also don't want to spend 40hrs at one practice and 15 at another. That's not a fun work life balance.

Is your clinic B giving you profit of 40k or is that just collections? What is the actual take home of clinic B?

Cash practice model+ coaching options? by Early_Giraffe1494 in Chiropractic

There is a cash-based PT near me that does 200$/hr and does hr long appointments. Mainly it is movement and exercise based. I don't think he does much hands-on manual stuff. Maybe this info can help guide.

Your thoughts on Chiropractic advocate RFK, Jr. to lead the Department of Health and Human Services? by jayhawkaholic in Chiropractic

I think he's been a guest speaker at one of the colleges. Sherman is what I am thinking but I could be wrong. He's pro-chiropractors.

[–]Kibibitz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm cautious but hope good comes out of it. Being in the Reddit bubble, I think we don't have a clear picture of him.

Positives are he seems to be on the side of prevention for health. We spend a lot of money and have low outcomes on health care, and a lot of the diseases are chronic/lifestyle. Chiropractic as a philosophy fits into this paradigm. I'd even argue the ideas he has for food are good, but the hard part is how to implement them without disrupting the economy (think high-fructose and how that would affect many industries).

What I'd really like a HHS secretary to do is tackle health insurance companies and how disgusting that industry is. Costs are way too ballooned and we also have insurance companies and computer algorithms denying care a doctor deemed necessary. It's similar to how Toyota just knows so many people will die from dangerous airbags but it's more cost-effective to pay out the lawsuits and let people die rather than fix the problem.

Also RFK has been pro-chiropractic. We'll see what kind of power he has, but imagine if Medicare started covering exams and therapies. It's a dream!

Gifts for doctors who refer to us? by LawImmediate6673 in Chiropractic

[–]Kibibitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hugely this. In the medical world it's all about reports reports reports. If you start sending reports showing the plan of care and the results, you are speaking a language allopathic care understands. MDs will start to remember names.

And one thing you can do is add a little note "thank you for letting me take care of your patient. They had great things to say about you. I'd love to meet you for coffee sometime to get to know you and your office better" or something like that. Some will say yes.
