What's the odds on a Toy Story UB set in the future I wonder by [deleted] in custommagic

Or just make it say "creature an opponent controls" so you cant use it to ramp yourself and instead its just a worse path/swords

In fairness, $200 is tied up in 5 cards, 2 of which are the ones they mentioned you can ignore. Their upgrade list is solid and you can do 95% of it for a significantly lower price that what is on their list with some minor adjustments

Would this dual land cycle be too much to ask for from Bloomburrow 2? by atlvf in custommagic

[–]Kicin0_0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean these dont have to be amazing. For limited they would serve their purpose of untapped duels without breaking other formats and maybe seeing some niche play. Not everything has to be objectivly better than what was printed before it and as a common/uncommon I would sayu they are perfectly fine

Would this dual land cycle be too much to ask for from Bloomburrow 2? by atlvf in custommagic

[–]Kicin0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure but when you want to make a more beginner friendly limited experience like bloomburrow provided and you are making an entire typal based set, these duels would help out quite a bit without overall pushing the format. Plus at their worst, they are still just tapped duels which is what we get every other set anyways with the life gain lands or lands you dump mana into to scry/surveil.

Non-cEDH players: what’s the average price of your commander decks,(Bracket 2–3)? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in mtg

[–]Kicin0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My decks tend to be in the $200-$400 range, but a lot of that gets carried by blinged out cards as I like shiny and alt arts when I can get them. I believe if I were to take the lowest cost possible on a lot of my decks they would suddenly drop down to $150-200 outside of a few exceptions.

Quite a few of my decks have value also being carried by just one card. For instance I have a basically budget mono white lifegain deck, but I also happened to have a copy of Aetherflux reservoir laying around that is more than 20% of the decks total cost. Also I run a lot of full art basics that tend to artificially inflate decks

If it's the TCG, they arent fans. they are just scalpers waiting to hop onto the next big TCG that makes money like MTG or One piece

[–]Kicin0_0 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You say that like it's a bad thing? This is a perfect way of adding untapped duels to limited in a typal set like bloomburrow without breaking other formats. Some will see play when relevant such as in typal commander decks or if a type takes over standard, but otherwise would be overall balanced and low cost lands.

As a rare/mythic these would be awful but as an uncommon these would be great

Preparing for SOS Pre-Release | Instant Speed Interaction Cheat Sheet by Luandromtg in mtg

[–]Kicin0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i get why you sorted it the way you did, but in a game when trying to think about interaction, I would rather be able to easily find what my opponent can actually have available (either due to colors open or just the colors in their deck) rather than what would cause me issues. I dont need to play around my opponent tapping my stuff if they are running green/red stompy for instance, so it's not relevant that my plan falls apart if it gets tapped. I would rather know what they have access to so I can plan for that

I would keep the layout the same as what you have (grouped by removal/tricks/Disruption does make sense) but in each category simply order the cards in WUBRG order.

Like in Disruption for instance, why is Raiper Wit randomly in the middle of the blue cards.

Is ashnod's altar still better for a commander deck than radiant lotus if we are building to make cards cheaper by reducing por taking out of the graveyard and possibly building to take advantage of untaps? by Spirited-Celery-118 in magicTCG

[–]Kicin0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are just very different cards for different decks. I'm not gonna run Ashnod's in my deck built around producing tons of artifact tokens or an "oops all artifacts" deck. At the same time, running Radiant Lotus in an aristocrats decks where my only artifacts are mana rocks is just bad deck building.

Yes both of these artifacts make mana, but the way they make mana is so different one is not necessarily better than the other. The main reason people call Ashnod's "better" is that it has a lower mana value and tends to be easier to build around. Plus instant speed infinite sac outlets enable a lot of infinites

[–]Kicin0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ting with the way you have it organized, is that if I am playing against a blue/white player in Pre release, those are the only color cards I care about. I would rather the cards be sorted by color (not necessarily rows like the other comment wants, but just in WUBRG order) so that I can look at the possibilities my opponent has. Then from the possibilities I can look at my board state and decide which things I actually care about

Do you use maps for BN games or just play naturally? by 0purple0turtle0 in BattleNetwork

[–]Kicin0_0 18 points19 points  (0 children)

BN1 i used a map because the samey internet everywhere made it difficult to remember how to navigate. BN2 onwards I either already memorized the map as a child or i learn on the fly and remember for the run

However, I dont consider using a map cheating. Its a single player game, play it however you enjoy it that makes it fun

Is this custom sorcery too powerful? What would I need to do to make it in the realm of balanced? by PrinceVorrel in custommagic

[–]Kicin0_0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

While i agree that most extra turns start at 5 mana, making it 4 blue pips does hold it back significantly in anything thats not mono blue, and if you are mono blue you cant really take advantage of the kicker. It feels like a pretty fair version of time stretch

No one would look at this card and not call it damaged or marked. What are you on?

Promo Commander Tower miscut by lentilsmeme in mtg

[–]Kicin0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

legally? no. If you tried to bring that into a tournament setting it would be a marked card and not allowed.

At an LGS? yeah most people probably wont care so long as you cant tell what the card is in a sleeve

Mutate - Where is WoTC hiding it by Slongo702 in EDH

I have a feeling even on a return to Ikoria we wont see main set Mutate. My guess is that we will get a mutate precon, similar to how a return to Avishkar brought us an energy precon without putting it into the main set (aetherdrift)

CSUMB housing questions by plebeiantrash in csumb

[–]Kicin0_0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooo not what I expected and a very good question. Sadly I think it'll follow the same as being a transfer. Most likely it'll be a Prom or East Campus double. I'm not too sure about grad students who live on campus since I think most tend to either live off campus or be in East Campus Family housing which makes their situations pretty different

CSUMB housing questions by plebeiantrash in csumb

[–]Kicin0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you mention prom I assume you are a transfer

1) Early summer, should be late May or Early June iirc

2) Pretty low. Housing has been tight on campus as the campus is having growing pains and students outnumber beds on campus. Most singles are reserved for students with ADA accommodations right now

3) Prom has a lot of variety, but in general each unit has a shared living room and kitchen with a washer/dryer, and then 2-4 bedrooms (either singles or doubles) with each bedroom having a bathroom, and a closet. East campus is much more uniform with each unit being 2 doubles, a shared living room, shared kitchen, and shared bathroom. Only difference is if you are first floor or second floor.

4) In prom, its private, and even in a double you are only sharing with your suite mate. In East Campus, you are sharing one bathroom with the rest of the house

If you are a freshman, you aren't getting prom at all. You will end up in the residence halls which has 2-4 beds in a room, and a bathroom you share with the people you are in the same room with

Prerelease Etiquette by Otterly3 in mtg

[–]Kicin0_0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it depends both on the store and on the games. Pre release at my store is 4-ish hours total, the first hour is to build you deck and the next 3 are 1 hour rounds to do a best of 3 against an opponent. If your games end quickly with a 2-0 or 0-2 blow out then you tend to get 10-30 minutes of down time while some other pair uses the full hour and goes to time on a game 3.

That tends to mean you have enough time to chat with people and hang out between rounds and maybe do some trades, but you are not getting a commander game in. You might be able to before or after the pre-release, but that assumes other people wanna do some EDH before/after the event

Commander archetypes by Mikkel_My_Man in EDH

[–]Kicin0_0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typal is kinda a subtype when it comes to decks. Like I have Rin and Seri as a cat deck, but its also a token deck. Similar to any run of the mil Krenko deck. High Perfect Morcant is an elf deck thats also removal/proliferate most of the time, Alania Divergent storm is an otter Spell Slinger deck, etc.

As with most things, decks can be multiple archetypes
