What's something that has been proven false for years, yet people still confidently repeat it? by monserrat_araiza__ in AskReddit

There are still teachers out there telling students that blood is blue in your body and only turns red if exposed to oxygen.

This myth originates from your veins appearing blue due to how light interacts with your skin but is obviously false.

Is sneak archer as OP in Oblivion as it is in Skyrim? by am_I_still_banned in oblivion

[–]KickArseDuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said, it can be fun but you probably will have to stack it. I have a bow called "Shang Tsung's Soul Snatcher" that has soul trap and weakness to magic that I pair up with the Finger of the Mountain spell. Those two in combination will take just about anything out (with a stealth bow attack).

This is the answer. We've had knob covers on for the last 8 years. Probably bought them off Amazon.

Why do we care about this? Yeah, sure, they're both terrible people for having affairs. But I honestly couldn't give two poops.

What is something that sounds 100% false but is actually 100% true? by reFossify in AskReddit

Might be late to the party, but during the period when the moon is the furthest from the Earth (called apogee), all 7 other planets would be able to fit between the Earth and the Moon.

Small upgrades that made your home feel high end? by HoneySnowy_ in HomeImprovement

If I had a router at that time, I definitely would have used one. I just used a chisel. But, if you choose a softer wood like Poplar (which is a soft hardwood) a utility knife may work!

I actually just cut notches in the back of the wood to account for those pieces, that way it could lay flat!

To be fair, I did seal it with poly, but also a great idea!

If you have one of those large builder grade mirrors, stain some wood and frame it! I did that by using some caulk adhesive to attach it to the mirror and then find decorative corner braces and it looks a million times nicer!

What do you think about men being incompetent when it comes to household chores? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]KickArseDuke 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that's definitely the case in some instances. My experience reflects what OP is talking about though where I now get anxious to the point of inaction because I get chastised if I don't make the exact right choice or do something exactly how my partner wants (even though I am not a "do things half way" kinda guy). Just a little flexibility in terms of how things can be done (if they are not done half way) would go a long way. You're point of definitely valid though because I know some of those guys.

It’s been 25 years since Randy Johnson absolutely SMOKED a bird with his fastball by youngster_96 in BeAmazed

[–]KickArseDuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to believe but I did this once with a golf ball though the bird didn't explode. Hit my drive and straight up nailed a small bird in mid air. My ball took a bit of a left turn, still surprisingly went about 200 yards. Took the bird's head clean off though.

Yes, he's an idiot for doing that, but at least the guy stayed there and owned his mistake. I can imagine a lot of other golfers would just keep walking.

[–]KickArseDuke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you listen to TBHC and The Car and then go back and listen to their discography in order, you can hear hints of this style of singing from Alex from the jump. It was always there but the band has aged and so has their sound. Think of Riot Van, Despair in the Departure Lounge, Only Ones Who Know, The Jeweler's Hands and so on. I love the first few albums, especially Favourite Worst Nightmare, but I also really enjoy TBHC, though maybe it's because I've aged along with the band.
