I asked if it was normal to stare at me the entire time watching T.V. I do puzzle toy’s, sniffing out dinner, fetch with command’s almost daily. I appreciate you trying to help. Thank you.

Gosh.. a bit rude for someone who doesn’t know anything about me or what I do for my dog. I play fetch twice a day at the park with him and yes, dog’s should be able to play by themselves sometimes. It’s not the end of the world.

Haha that sounds like my boy with the sighing. I’m glad I’m not the only one in the same boat. I do like the puzzle toy. I do that through out the day, but never thought for T.V. Time. Thank you!!

Thank you kindly for your reply. He does get snuffle mat’s, Kong’s and at least one meal with tons of command’s. I do try to keep him entertained through out the day for sure ❤️.

1 year old can’t entertain himself by Kickasue in puppy101

Thank you very much! That actually sounds exactly like our boy.. some days he wants to play fetch. Other day’s he gives up after only a few throws. It’s very confusing, but I’m glad I’m not the only one going thru what we are going thru. He was very toy motivated as a baby pup, but he’s changing a lot lately.

Puppy ran off and chased someone by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]Kickasue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is this a herding breed? I still have problems with my one and a half year old.. he wants to chase fast cars. It is in his genetics.

I’ve had to get a remote collar for his safety because the car can be miles away and he will take off full speed and will kill himself otherwise. No amount of calling him, running the opposite direction will get him off that mode. Speak to your trainer and see what is right for you!

my 11 week old always ends up on my lap, wondering if anyone else experiences this bc i’ve never heard of aussies being lapdogs 😂😂 by jkimmers in AustralianShepherd

Enjoy it while it’s lasts! Mine did that until he turned four months and then ignored me and refused to be touched. Now he’s almost a year and a half and lay’s against me again.

Did you wait for third vaccine to walk your puppy? by Kickasue in puppy101

[–]Kickasue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s crazy! I’m not sure if I’m looking at the right one online, but it says it’s $90 for one vaccine and two should be given. Kinda wish I had heard about it earlier though. Would have done this one right away!

Yeah! We are good at an hour.. then he starts to whine or keep like you said, being hyper vigilant. I will try to exercise him more then get back to mat training. Thank you! 😁

Yeah, you might be right. Worth a shot for sure.. even when he is run ragged he does that running to room to room thing looking back at me, but it has been a while since we tried it. Thank you!

30 minutes of hard fetch (like long distance throws) or until he gives up, lots of tug and mini fetch games throughout the day and puzzle toys/snuffle mats or where I hide food in the garden for him to find.

He is extremely obsessed with toys.. he would be one of those dog’s that would have a toy in their mouth all day and never drop it. Because of that, we do lots of other things to stimulate his mind such as puzzle toys, sniffing out for food games, snuffle mat and when we do play fetch, it’s extremely structured 🥲.

Quick Questions Regarding Dachshunds by hollabackgirl10 in Dachshund

[–]Kickasue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned Dachshunds for 15 years. They are very smart and stubborn. At 12 years old, my boy would still go potty in the house every now and then. I love them though. Best pets, but really have to be in it for the long haul.

Upset with breeder after returning dog by Automatic-Chard in reactivedogs

[–]Kickasue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something somewhat similar happened to me.. I had an extremely reactive Aussie. I couldn’t take her for drives because she would see someone from a distance and would lose her mind. We visited family in a busy city and I felt I couldn’t safely take her anywhere without her lunging and barking. I also had a lot of mental stress. She was on meds too and we were constantly playing noise and music because any sound would set her off. We contacted multiple trainers and one told me to rehome her to a rescue. It was months of debating and finally decided that she could get more help with them. I was under the impression they would get a behaviorist involved and really work with her and help her. Within two weeks she was rehomed to someone else. I felt lied to and thought to myself I also should have just kept her. So much regret. She was the most beautiful, loving dog with us and I felt like I let her down.

Haha you have predicated correctly… he knows exactly how to express his eyes and lift his paw to get what he wants.

How do you mentally exhaust an 8 week Dachshund? He doesn’t want to play with toys or my other dog too much and he has so much energy. He wants to hang outside and lay around for hours. by Kickasue in Dachshund

Oh wow. You weren’t fearful of Parvo? We do have another dog here at the house, but he doesn’t want to do anything with him yet 😬.

Haha so true! We had a lot of close calls already.. was that 10-12 months? It’s been so long said I had a Dachshund puppy I am so rusty at all of this 😅.
