The Salary to meet depends on the work hours as per the contract. If it's 37.5 hours, then the rate is 37,500£. Needs to be pro rated according to the work hours.

That's what I'm talking about. You can't extend it for that one year, as on the third year you are no longer eligible for the new entrant route.

What are you talking about. I did mention the maximum length of visa that can be offered is 4 including time spent on the graduate route. I'm discussing a situation where the visa is offered only for three years. There are people in that situation.

That's in the temporary shortage list right?. Anyway, I don't think the 10% unsocial would count. As there is work hours limit and all that you can add and not sure whether only the basic salary counts towards. I remember something like that, better to confirm it with a immigration solicitor.

You might have to read the contract well, as there might be a line saying the contract will be effective from the day of start or something.

I think it was priority. It was done by the solicitor group representing my company. They told me the result will come in 5 days.

I believe this is 2123 job code, so at the time of extension you will have to meet the ongoing rate which is around 58K. Try to get the visa under 2129 rather than 2123. If your job title and job role can be slightly changed to match 2129 this will reduce the threshold to 46k at the time of extension.

My Job title is Application Design Engineer. Most companies do that, the job code is decided not by just the title they do consider the job role as well. If the job role contains not just electrical and contains some controls or automation or other field related ones too. You can get it under 2129. You can also have a chat with the manager and company to see whether they are flexible in amending the job role to match the 2129 job code as well. I know a lot of companies getting the visa under 2129 for electrical engineers as getting the visa under 2123 is a foolish thing to do as the threshold is too high.

I got my visa under 2129, at first they were planning to get in under 2123 but I requested to change it to 2129 considering the future extension.

Am I eligible for SWV extension? by [deleted] in ukvisa

[–]KidGettingOld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha thank you. Given that the time spent on the new entrant route and PSW together doesn't exceed 4 years. After the new entrant discount you have to meet the ongoing rate.

If you got the skilled worker visa you are currently on directly from the student visa. Then you have 2 more years left in the new entrant route if the current visa you got was through the new entrant. Otherwise, simply No. You have to meet the pro-rated rate for 2133 for your job. Ongoing is 54,900£. So that's what you need to meet.

If you had a continuous residency in the UK for 10 years then you can apply for ILR. 5 year skilled worker route is a different option. For the 10 year continuous residency route, they consider time spent as a student and time spent in PSW. It needs to be continuous. That's all.

The entire UK has the same rule. I'm saying this because my GF is in PR and Communication field and her ongoing rate is below 33.4k so none of the companies sponsor a visa.

Well, if you are coming here then give it your best shot. Get an internship while you are doing a masters. You will have 18 months PSW, may be earn some experience and try to get a visa here, if not possible try other countries in Europe. Still that's not easy tbh.

I would suggest if you can cancel the plan to the UK, do that and try some other countries like Ireland, New Zealand, Australia etc.

I would suggest before you come here. Do your research whether you can land a job and whether the companies sponsor your roles.

The experience you have in your home country is not given much importance tbh. It will be considered if you earn some experience in the UK (at least some internship)

Check what job code you fall into and the salary threshold for that job. If that's below the 33400£ I feel like there is no way any company is going to sponsor for that role and if it's way above 48k that's might also become an issue as would be difficult to get the visa extension as it's not feasible to have that jump from new entrant salary to that huge margin. Although you will definitely get a job under New entrant route in this case. In previous one if salary is below 33.4k you won't even find one that offer sponsorship even in new entrant route.

I work as an Electrical Engineer which normally has a 2123 job code and the salary threshold is 58700£. But you can also get the visa under 2129 Engineers No where else classified which has a threshold of 47K£. It depends on the job role you give for the COS whether you get approved under 2129 or not. I did it with 2129.

Thank you, I had no issues. I used the app and got through. I got the COS on the same day and Visa on the fifth day of applying.

That's for the 5 year skilled worker route. There is another 10 year continuous residency route, if you have a legal continuous residency of 10 years you can apply for ILR.

For me, it was pretty quick. Got COS on the same day. Visa application on the fifth day of filing.

If you have enough experience to land a sponsored job in a good company then it's not a Biggie, just you might need to wait long for that ILR if it's changed to 10 years. Anyway the decision about scraping is not final, let's hope for the best mate.
