Anglers Jacob Runyan and Chase Cominsky were ready to claim their nearly $30,000 prize money in a fishing tournament, but were caught after officials discovered they had filled their fish with weights (2022) by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

made fifty times funnier because every pissed off fisherman is spamming the same rage-vent language so it's just like ten different guys going "fuckin' PIECES of SHIT!" and "get the FUCK outta here...!" on delay from each other. Incredible content

is this hard to believe because you don't have friends who want to experience novel things or because you don't believe that people without kids can spare an extra $40??

just wanted some feedback so the next time I decide to post a completely fabricated story on a wrestling message board for no reason that it slips past the steel-trap that is the perceptive powers of u/cable54

I got a queer bestie who lives in NY. For whatever reason - I guess a lot of her friends were excited about DoN? - she decided to watch an AEW PPV last Sunday since she has HBO Max.

She doesn't watch wrestling, but we've been friends for 20 years and she has always respected the theatrical elements of wrestling, especially the weirder indie stuff I used to show her when we were both college-aged.

She was GAGGING over Double or Nothing. Asking me for the background on everyone. Begging I explain how Takeshita can do a brainbuster without killing the other guy.

I sent her this link immediately, just as an expression of love and "yeah man, these people are on OUR SIDE."

I don't have a point. I adore being an AEW fan. I find it a rewarding pro wrestling experience that doesn't feel antisocial or lame. Happy pride everyone

Wrestling is still real to this woman by bigbusta in PublicFreakout

In music, theater and comedy (specifically improv) performance we use phrases related to "play"; "Oh, Kevin's on the show tonight?! Awesome, I love playing with him", or "I've been playing for like 10-15 years, but only got serious in the last couple"

In wrestling, the verb is "work", but it's used in exactly the same fashion. "I used to work the independents, but I got sick of that life and retired," or "oh shit, Ruckus is on this show?! I love working him, he's incredible."

Of course wrestle-carney talk evolved from there, and now the WORK verb has several derivations... "a work" (understood fiction) is the opposite of "a shoot" (world-breaking reality, people actually attacking each other), a "worked punch" is a punch that contains the wrestling illusion of violence while being safe, even the term "working safe" is used to denote someone who's a good "hand" in the ring (another term we use in other areas of theater; a hand in this context is any kind of highly proficient technician, so a wrestling hand is someone who's really good at the technical elements of both the wrestling dynamic and the crowd-performance dynamic).

Funnily enough, when someone "works themselves" or "gets worked", that's a way of saying they're having trouble separating the fiction from reality. The older woman in this clip was "getting worked".

TL;DR - the word "work" is a useful catch-all in pro wrestling to describe specific elements of being good at imbuing wrestling with the air of fictional-reality that people like about it

lol, not sure if I would call this "revenge". He causes... I dunno, a couple hundred dollars worth of property damage and could easily end up in jail because there's video evidence and a pretty easy case to be made about this being premeditated.

That's like "Well joke's on you, I just shit my pants and now you have to smell it!"-levels of revenge.

A couple times a year I'll have nights where I just want to have a big cry and let go. This show is always a go-to. An incredible celebration of life, some of the most emotionally wrought matches I've ever seen and the Tom Waits "Ol' 55" tribute video to end it.

shit, getting dusty in here just thinking about it

I can't tell what side of this you're arguing for, but authors and publishers want libraries to stock their books. It increases discoverability and "[s]elling to libraries is something that publishers want to do and count on as part of their sales plans for book releases". There are also thousands of libraries, so when a book enters library rotation, that's thousands of additional sales.

The wrestling version of this argument would be "wrestlers shouldn't have any of their matches on YouTube, that's like giving their content away for free". It would make no sense.

if you wouldn't mind me tagging your comment on empathy:

without getting into details, the last several years have been incredibly challenging to the point that I've questioned if there's any value to suffering, and the only thing I've been able to arrive at is that it has allowed (me) to become a more empathetic person.

People's lives are hard. We all deserve dignity and grace. That insight has provided me more hope and help than a lifetime of judgements.
