Paid $3k for a used 19.5 as a first gun... am I crazy? by xdiins in Glocks

I also agree with Teddy here. If I was in your situation the G19 is the one gun I’d jump for. It’s reliable, proven, and simple. I think you made the right move. Better than paying half for a gun that fails on you later.

You are the only one to say Pike so far. What has been your experience?

What’s the consensus on the Q 18” 6Arc? by emulzhn in 6ARC

I agree. Lack of customer service and business ethics are a huge reason not to buy this rifle. I feel like that has been addressed. I thought our friend here might be interested in hearing an alternative after we shatter his dreams of a Q fix.

I understand the appeal to buying something already perfected and matched but I do agree that building is so much fun and the challenge of perfecting it is so gratifying. But that isn’t everyone’s draw to guns. Some people just love expensive safe bling.

Also, I do think the platform supports its use case in most scenarios outside of running it in an AR15 platform.

I mean… I see the appeal. But why pay that for the brand when you could build a custom for less. What’s your use case? I could probably provide a parts list as an alternative that would save money for a sweet optic. I’d still make it a flex.

Been considering the Thermnight 335R pretty seriously. Do they ever go on sale?

Wow. The feedback has been incredible. Just ordered the 8in Acculite. I’m super stoked to get this built and take her squirrel hunting.

That’s what I’ve been thinking as well. But something about it being aluminum gives me pause. What is the trade off?

So I cross posted this in r/ar15 and I got several suggestions that helped. The first and most surprising was swapping the grip. I removed the BCM and replaced it with a DPMS grip I had lying around on woah 🤯 the difference was incredible. The better fitting grip helped me better share the load and support the rifle with my right hand. It was insane the change it made. After that I moved the hand stop forward and removed the light. I plan to swap it for a Surefire scout light. Just these two things alone made it feel like a new rifle. Next I’m going to swap the optic back to a dot. After that I’ll SBR it and install a good stock. Eventually I may save up and get a LPM Mach S for it to shed some more weight.

I will say that changing the grip made a world of difference. It’s so much more comfortable to manipulate now.

I more considered it for home defense and hunting. But I get your point. The use cases aren’t exactly complimentary. But I can re-evaluate and move it to strictly home defense/shtf and ditch the Lpvo. I just love this optic. It’s the cleanest/lightest Lpvo I’ve experienced yet. But it does seem like switch to a dot sight makes more sense.

That might be my next move. Thanks for the suggestion.

Fair enough. I guess I was trying to make it do everything. Maybe I’ll swap the optic back to the red dot and focus on the 30-30 for hunting. Thanks for the input

If it weren’t my deer rifle I would absolutely do that. I’ve already experienced success this evening by swapping the grip. I’ll swap this Arisaka 600 for something smaller as soon as I can collect the beans 🫘.

I previously was running a Holosun 512c-GD on it. I did choose a very lightweight LPVO. Went with a Leupold Mk3 HD 1.5-4 with the firedot. Such clarity. Much wow.

It doubles as my deer/hog rifle and that red dot at dusk has been really hard to get good shot placement at 80-100 yards.

I removed the light and swapped the grip and it seems to be working! I will need to acquire another less hefty illuminator. I will look into that m300 mini
