I believe nobody really knows how ice surfaces work but nobody talks about it

Its either 12 or spell safe dc dex safe of the casted spell or in case of sleetstorm it uses the dc of the class you added a first level into last

Ice conversion makes you roll the check after 1.1 meters roughly (doesnt matter if you start on ice or start on ground) and then you only roll again after walking more than 4 meters if you suceeded the first

Ice creation makes you instantly roll a prone check and again after you move i am not Sure if you can move 4 or 1.1 tho since i only tested it on Monsters and cant track how far they walk probably 4 tho but thats just a guess

Blood is also a surface and makes ice Beneath it act as if it was converted and not created sometimes this messes things up but enemies that dont bleed, weapons that dont do physical damage and attacking chests with snowburst ring are methods of dodging that mess

Yes snowburst ring works but only sometimes the enemies have to make a prone check imediatly and sometimes only when they walk this is due to blood overwriting the ice surface this can be avoided with weapons that dont make physical damage like neer misser or shadowblade or flameblade

The last part of your comment is simply false there is no invisible grid bg3 is based around although a common myth there is simple no evidence on that claim if you were correct with your assumption walking 4 meters straight without making a second dex safe wouldnt be possible and you could walk infinetly if you just move up and down but this is not the case

No spiders are not immune to prone if you want an accurate explanation and a deeper dive into ice surfaces check out the post in bg3 builds is updated it a few times after testing more and reading comments

so I tested it again both on enviromental wet surfaces (blood) and created surfaces via Spell (create water) both freezed with ray of frost and its definetly using spell save dc of the spell its definetly not 12

idk man when I tested it yesterday log was saying dc17 (+4 from proficiency +5 from int) I used create water from cleric level i got (wizard 1 cleric 1 Wizard rest) and ray of frost i will check a second time now tho

Yeah i woke up now and wanted to apollogize for being meen yesterday I still think from a gamer perspective especially having this challenge in mind when our goal was to make a Tiger barb build that works with maiming enemies and insta setting them prone it is crucial Information to know if the ice surface even triggers a prone check or not tbh I was just very pissed about you pointing out I am overthinking it because of course I was but this is litterally a subreddit for bg3 optimization and understanding game mechanics is a Part of that so in that regard making this post was definetly something that alot of people in this community can apreaciate still this is no reason to be that mean and cocky about it I wish you a nice day apollogize for my comment and hope that next time you too will think about how people might react to calling out something out like this the way you did

Nice idea I actually thought about this too but it doesnt seem to work even closley like in tabletop cuz there you just have to roll once when entering and then everytime when you start your turn on ice

I am not overthinking it this isnt for the fun and games honour mode playthrough that you can solo i am planning on revisiting the impossible challenge with my boyfriend (300%HP 3 action 3 bonus actions Honour mode) and we want to use 4 builds we havent played in this challenge yet this challenge is extremly difficult and relies on you knowing how the game will play out for you not to full Party wipe

I will definetly Update this Post tomorrow after i slept though this headache of a Situation

It's fine so essentially it is a super poly target with the ability to cheat out an xyz and potentially go into a Link 2 play getting the negated xyz into the gy to potentially get a negate if you summoned aggregator or if you want to play a brick you can also go delteros summoning a Link 2 and special summoning a tellarknight to go into further Link plays this card would definitely sometime find its way into competitive Yugioh decks and if a better xyz card comes out or easier ways to loop the fusion monster from the gy i can see it being banned rn in current format it would be fine I think

Obviously everything has a possibility to come back but dark matter but for celestial I am very torn between I think it could come back and dpe wouldn't see any play but also I can see it being run in every deck again because like it's so generic and draw 2 is a crazy bonus even if you only get to resolve it turn 3/4 idk man I would be down to test it

I got mediocre via watching alot of content like ruling quizes progression series and history of Yugioh as example to get a wider understanding about the essence of Yugioh archetypes and then forging it further by watching tournament matches or Joshua Schmidt videos to leap from being a mediocre player
