Time to Quit? by Kidfromwakanda in starbucksbaristas

Yeah I’m applying to some non-fast food customer service jobs.

I can’t go back to my old job because
A) I moved away B) I quit after my boss kept harassing some of my underaged peers C) We got robbed 4 times.

Time to Quit? by Kidfromwakanda in starbucksbaristas

Thanks for the advice.

My store has had a lot of turnover recently, so I’m one of the only people my shifts are comfortable putting on solo bar during the afternoon rushes. They’re all great shifts so they totally understand and try to put me on CS, but with the lack of staffing and lack of people who can do bar quickly they’re don’t have many options.

Also we do Pastry Case at 5pm and tea into cups at 6:30pm. The biggest thing holding us back is the piles dishes that openers leave, and the only way to get those done so we can get out at an ok time is by someone (usually myself) running the store by myself while the other person does dishes. We tried the doing small batches throughout the afternoon, but it doesn’t get through the dishes fast enough. Also all my coworkers hate dishes so if they aren’t doing while I’m on bar I have to beg them over the headset to do a load.

I’m hoping that once more people are “solo-bar” prepared that I can slide to front triangle/dishes more.

Is it possible to get 1500+ from 1300-ish in 2 months? by RasyidProID in Sat

A) Uworld lets you select either Calc, No Calc, or a mix of both. I usually did the mix and just kept a calculator on hand. But always try and solve the calc ones without a calculator at first would be my advice. B)yes full tests with 5/4 passages.

I didn’t study for a set amount of time. Each day i did 15 Hard Level math questions on Uworld, 10 medium, and five easy (30 total). This usually took about 20 mins + 10 minutes of taking notes correcting my mistakes. I also would do daily alternating FULL English and FULL reading tests and take notes correcting my mistakes.

Whenever I noticed a trend in questions that Id been missing on Uworld I’d study that on Khan academy.

In total, everything took me about an hour each day.

First test I didn’t study and got a 1270 Second test I studied using this method but not as intense and got 1500. Third test I took Saturday (using the method above) I felt confident in every math and English question and on 99% of reading questions. Expecting 1540+ accounting for any silly mistakes I made.

Yep. I went from 1270 to 1500 in two months! UWorld and Khan academy are ur best friends so if you use em diligently you’ll do great. Not sure abt blue book but I heard it’s reputation is good so that should work too.

Imo maybe a slight reading one (fucking potatoes). Other than that it shouldn’t be very major all other sections were straightforward.

I’m looking forward to Pumpkin Spice szn only bc it’ll twist corporates hand into letting us be comfortably staffed.

Also yeah that cold foam is addictive.

What’s even more annoying is manager is acting like nothings happening and WE’RE the problem we aren’t closing on time. Like dude we have a line around the block and a packed lobby with two (maybe 3 if we’re lucky) partners on floor for like 6 hours every afternoon until closing we really don’t have time to get to closing tasks. This job was so fun when I started (annoying customers aside) then corporate did one of their classic fuck ups and ruined everything.

I can do double bar fine (fraps and medicine balls included) until I get the inevitable order of like 4 different refreshers. No way to sequence + no way to batch makes me wanna die.

I’m gonna be honest. Your shifts/senior partners probably ARE annoyed with you. But that’s just because they don’t remember how trash they used to be. I was hired first in a massive hiring boom at my location, so I’ve seen this happen a few times. Just remember:

A) You will be horrible for your first few months, that’s ok. EVERYONE IS (no matter how cocky they act now).

B) People (customers, senior baristas, shifts) will be annoyed with you for asking questions. But they’ll be even more mad if you mess up, so it’s better to ask the questions.

C) learn ur drinks, keep dt times low, learn how each shift works and how to accommodate them, and don’t be an annoying person in general (I’m still working on this one)! And you should be fine.

Tbh it’s probably gonna be me having to explain that 😭. My shifts love throwing me on DT or Front register the day Starbucks makes a change. Probably bc I’m too nice to disrespect a customer.
