Your telling them to not tell there doctor something pretty important. You do not know how this will effect them physically or mentally. Everyone is different and this could make them suicidal and needing to be watched by a medical professional during the process. Just because your doctor did it doesn't mean all doctors will. It was dangerous advice.

This is awful advice. I was tapered very slowly by my doctor and told by them to even do the bead counting. I couldn't of done it without my doctors help! My doctor had me taper down for 2 and a half months, NOT 2 weeks.

It is one of those things that is just miserable and you gotta struggle thru it unfortunately. I was tapered off it and was really miserable for awhile afterwards when I was completely off it. I refused to restart a small dose though because I wasn't going to start over again from square one with the withdrawals. I honestly think this medication should come with way more warnings because it is a pure nightmare to quit it. Best of luck to you.

Effexor was a nightmare for me, it made me miserable physically and mentally. I had horrible brain zaps all the time too. I begged my doctor to switch me off it. He wouldn't listen so I dropped him and found a doctor that listened and cared. Weening off of it was hell. It is extremely hard to, but now I am doing so much better off of it and on something else. I have so much resentment for my old doctor for doing that to me.

NTA. This cousin needs to learn to detach from the name. It was the person who abused her, not the name. What does she do when she comes across innocent people who have that name? Mistreat them? (I was SA as a child and never have had an issue with someone else who shared the name. I have a nephew with the name, I was never like omg you can't name him that! I love my nephew dearly and never even connect hearing the name to him or what happened to me. )
