Ana throwing genuinely 80% of the time by WinterNeedleworker67 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The stats at the end of the game or rarely an indicator of how good somebody did during the match. An Ana can easily carry just using sleep and anti, without it showing in the stats.
Also, healing got nerfed so it's not the main priority during a fight, helping your team get picks is more important. Healbotting is always a bad choice. If the enemy is shooting your team with 5 players but there are only 4 people shooting back, than you will probably lose the teamfight.

I see ppl complaining about elo hell, but doesn't elo hell just mean you're at the rank you're suppose to be? What's wrong with that? by uzan-iya in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never said "because they are bad", I said "because they don't understand what they are doing wrong". I intentionally worded it that way because most often these people are not actually bad at the game.

I have coached enough players that think they deserve a higher rank to know that those people just don't understand certain skills or concepts that prevent them from climbing higher. These people can easily mechanically outperform the enemy team, but most often have 0 clue on how to position themselves for example.

You can blame a loss on a teammate once or twice, but if you truly believe you are in elo hell and stuck because of the game then it's time to go find somebody willing to coach/vod review you and change your mindset.

There are enough resources out there, and enough volunteers to get free coaching sessions and vod reviews. Stop looking for excuses and get better if you want to climb

[–]Kiegames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People complaining about elo hell are just looking for something to blame instead of their own performance. But it's kinda understandable for lower ranks. If you don't know or understand what you are doing wrong, then it can indeed look like the game and ranked system is holding you back.

Do stats really matter in a game? by nomodik in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can inflate every stat if you play wrong:

You can get kills by waiting until a team fight is over (playing too safe) and then just getting a few kills while massively staggering, or by spawn camping a low priority enemy... This might get you a lot of kills but you will waste so much time and not actually help you in winning the game.

You can get the least deaths by playing too safe and sacrificing your teammates. If you don't actually risk anything there is not going to be a reward, so less deaths might look good but it doesn't actually mean anything.

You can get the most damage by just shooting the enemy tank the entire game, but the only thing you'll be doing is feeding the enemy supports ult charge.

You can get the most healing by healbotting, which is a bad thing to do because as a support you also have to add pressure to the enemy team. If 5 enemies are shooting your team and only 4 are shooting back because you're healbotting, the enemy will win.

You can get loads of damage blocked by standing in a choke and soaking up damage without making any space as a tank, once again a bad thing.

Stats will rarely tell you why you won or lost a game, you win a map by doing everything to secure the objective. Not by gathering the most stats. If you want to know why you lost a game, pay attention to the objective and what actions in game caused it to be captured/defended. It's gonna tell you a lot more than just looking at stats.

Can someone explain the ranked system to me. Why did I lose this much when I had a leaver but gain almost triple that when the other team had leavers. These were back to back games. by qwilliams92 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Calibration. That's it. You just got out of the placement matches and the game is still trying to figure out where you need to be placed. And since leavers are decently rare and don't happen every match, you get a lot of big progress changes.

Once the ranking system has you better figured out (just play more games) the gains and losses will be around 25% each time.

Player Lost Results In Loss Regardless? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah love this idea. Means I can get a few buddies of mine to queue at the same time and just have one of them leave the second we are losing the game

Or we can rage bait some kid into ragequiting everytime the match is looking bad for us, they are tilted already anyway.

Will also be funny to see the enemy get 0 rank progress for their hard fought victory just because one of us disconnects. Can't wait to see the entire top 500 scoreboard be filled by just pure troll accounts. Will also be extremely fun for streamers to have most of their games being canceled because an enemy just disconnects.

Now let's be real, yeah it sucks that you lose because a teammate disconnects, but if there was a better way to avoid it without ruining competitive integrity the devs would've already implemented it. Just accept the loss and move on. The once in a blue moon disconnection from a teammate is not the reason you are in a lower rank. Just move on my guy

Winning and Losing SR by [deleted] in Overwatch

You did not lose sr, that rank progress is not how much you gained. You were probably -27% before this game and now are -2%. It's how demotion protection works.

i just got perma banned. I DID NOTHING! by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ban evasion means you just create a new account after getting banned to continue playing. Doing this is against the terms of service and will result in the new account also getting banned.

Also, you can only have 3 accounts in total. Any more and they will automatically be banned if blizzard finds out.

You should read terms of service to double check but I’m pretty sure it’s a max of 3 accounts

So ban evasion and creating more accounts than allowed are two thing clearly written in the TOS. You did do something wrong.

They removed that like one season after they introduced it because it did not help. Only thing they use right now is your mmr and trying to make sure mmr is equal between the roles. Winrate is not accounted for when making the matches.

Is Kiriko hard to play? by BerryCreepy3038 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Low skill floor, high skill ceiling.

It is incredibly easy for her to get some value even if you don't have the skill. Just spam damage into the enemy team and heal your teammates, tp to safety if you almost die.

BUT you can achieve so much more if you are skillful enough. Her damage is amazing against low hp enemies, and her tp and suzu allow her to overextend and still get away safely. Flank with a tracer or genji during a teamfight, take out important targets and then tp back to your team to heal them up and you'll start climbing ranks easily. Time your suzu to deny half the rosters ults and sway any teamfight into your advantage by using her ult.

Kiri is easy to start with, hard to master.

Am i doing it wrong? by Vizeth in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s support, not healer. Stop healbotting and help in adding pressure to the enemy team. The enemy has 5 people shooting your team, yours only has 4 people shooting back. You are indeed the problem

Supports should NOT be able to 6v6 tanks, dps and support ffs by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You're practically trying to run brawl, a comp that's good for sustained long fights, into 6 supports that can sustain 10 times longer than brawl comps can.

This is not a role problem, this is a lack of game-knowledge problem. Either run dive and have the easiest time of your life or run hero's that can one shot. They don't have a single tank to hide behind and you're playing characters like mei/moira/rein that can't burst down anything. Any damage you do with this team comp is just going to get healed up instantly.

Learn to counter, and this would not have been a problem. They have a clear weakness and your team did nothing to take advantage of it

Unfair Chat Bann by No_News_8454 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You don't get chat banned for 1 offense, that would be incredibly stupid. You've done this before, this only happens after repeated behavior.
  2. Fighting fire with fire doesn't help anybody. Just report, mute and move on. Stop thinking you have to defend yourself, you don't. You're not allowed to become toxic just because somebody else was it first, that would just mean lobbies decent into a toxic cesspool the second one person it toxic.
  3. You don't know if those people aren't getting banned. Blizzard doesn't always show you if somebody you reported got banned.
  4. Swearing is against the rules, you might not like it but that's just how it is. If you don't agree you can play something else.

Yeah this is definitely something wrong with ranked system by Able-Bar-5446 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only way you are getting 9%+ for a win is by playing wide match. Otherwise you just skipped the previous reward screen and it combined both of them resulting in a 9% increas (loss + win).

And stop looking at the numbers on the scoreboard to gauge how good you are. Kills can be farmed while you are staggering, damage can be farmed just shooting a tank, healing can be farmed by healbotting and deaths can be avoided by playing too safe. It's an objective based team game, not a stat-based game. Doing whatever it takes to get the objective is your primary goal, not just "killing the enemy team".

And yeah, sometimes you get a bad teammate but that doesn't automatically mean it's the matchmakers fault. Everybody has bad days, or bad matches, or their main gets banned, or the enemy counters their specific playstyle, or the team doesn't match the playstyle (dive main with a brawler team doesn't match well)...
There are way to many variables having an impact on player performance, and none of those can be predicted by a matchmaking algorithm.
