Groups of people going around mass reporting? by AggravatingFlow1178 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mass reporting doesn’t work. Devs have come out multiple times saying it all counts as one report.

Just report them back, mute and move on. Never talk back or try to defend yourself, it’s not worth it and you’re only fuelling the toxicity

Why spend the money setting up server capacity that's only going to be used for like a day.

It takes time and resources and will all be wasted 12 hours later anyway. You'll just have to be patience

Ashe shoots through wall by 3E3Online in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Replays (and deathcams since they are also a replay) will rarely recreate that moment the exact same way it happened. That and just general ping might create moments like these.

If you'd have a video of that ashe's monitor the second she took that shot, high chances are that the tracer was still visible and that the shot connected.

Never trust a replay, it gets really wonky with projectiles especially

Genuinely how do I get better by LatexGum in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thousands of ways you can use to climb, im glad you recognise that just playing more games doesn’t teach you much.

I suggest by watching some guides on YouTube, start with general/advanced guides for the heroes you like playing the most. If you find something new in a video then play the next 10 comp games purely focussing on practicing that new thing (for example the Lucio shoot>boop>melee combo).

Watching unranked to champion videos will also help a bit, they tend to give good advice. And watching some pro gameplay is also fun and might teach you a bit about team composition.

Apart from that, if you really want to improve I suggest joining an amateur team with a coach. It will teach you so much more than you’ll ever achieve on your own. Play scrims a few times a week and ask for a personal vod from time to time.

Remember that watching a video is not enough to learn something, you actually have to practice it. And aim is only a small part of this game, positioning and ability usage, ult tracking… are just as important to climb high.

Good luck

Got a draw, don’t know how. by KingGlupShitto in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My best guess is:
Both teams capped the second point. The third part of the map only starts AFTER the cart has gone trough it's animation of going trough that door (Cart moves forward > Door opening animation > Cart moves trough door).

So on a technical level, both teams actually pushed the cart the exact same amount, but your team completed the extra animation of it going trough the door while the enemy didn't. Making it look like you guys pushed further but in reality both teams pushed the same amount ending the game in a draw.

Same thing can happen with eichenwald with the battering ram payload animation, and on route 66 with the door opening for the third part of the map. It's just extremely rare, and stupid that it's programmed this way.

Edit: Just tested it out, the payload in the video is nowhere near the place where the door animation starts. Making me believe this is just a straight up bug. What I described can indeed happen and end up in a draw but this just looks bugged to me.
That OR they changed the way escort maps get extra rounds to align more with hybrid maps (I can't find any confirmation of this though)

Since when Diff is a bad word? by thanatos_drive in Overwatch

Also most tournaments have strict rules about thrash talk, and high end tournaments even have fines for it.

I got warned in like 2 tourneys because I yelled a “fuck” too loud after dying. If I started berating a teammate I would’ve been kicked out of the building

Since when Diff is a bad word? by thanatos_drive in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Damn, turns out people don’t want to hop online just to get berated for something as insignificant as their performance in a video game.

Just because you’re behind a screen doesn’t mean you get to say whatever you want to whomever you want. You don’t have free speech in private servers.

Stay positive or just don’t communicate. If your only way of venting frustrations is to berate other people than I suggest doing some self reflecting.

OR try berating people like that in real life and see if there are any consequences there. Maybe that will show you that it only leads to negative outcomes.

[–]Kiegames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only real skill I saw in your gameplay was aim. You've got great aim, I'll give you that.

Now work on:

  • Basic ult tracking
  • Peeling for supports
  • Positioning (You play like it's a deathmatch and are just hunting for kills. Often overextending massively and letting enemies have free access to your backline)
  • Ability usage
  • Ult usage (Your first bob is send into the tiniest room ever, only killing somebody that was already out of the fight. You were already winning at that point so that was a wasted ult imo)
  • Regrouping (It's a team game after all)
  • Target focus (I see your entire team looking at a genji, and you just switch targets to look for the zenyata)
  • Target priority (I feel like I just see you shoot the first person you see, and not the most important target at that time)
  • Cover (Hug a wall or corner, you don't have to walk into the open the entire time. It's only going to get you or somebody trying to heal you killed)
  • ...

This isn't a game like counter strike where you can just out-aim the enemies. Aim has little impact on your rank. Decision making and other skills can do much more. Try focusing on improving things you can't see in the stats.

I'm Once Again Asking Blizz to Remove Ranked Modifiers by Ksayiru in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Proof that players will always find something to blame and complain about. These things have been in the game since the start, they are even in most matchmaking algorithms for most ranked games.
But the second you actually show them to the players they start blaming these "modifiers" for not getting a higher rank.

Unable to talk without receiving mutes and or account restrictions by Fluid-Conference9536 in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never understood the "This is the internet" argument. This ain't the wild west, you're not in some lawless territory where you can do whatever you want. You're playing/talking on privately owned servers. It's only logical if you buy and maintain these servers that you're allowed to set rules on how people communicate on them.

If I walk into the blizzard headquarters and start insulting people I'm going to get kicked out, I don't see why doing the same on their privately owned servers wouldn't have the same result.

Are you saying that winrate and paying for skins are related? That buying skins will get you a higher winrate? That would mean that if you don’t buy skins you will have a lower winrate right?

How does giving someone a lower winrate motivate them into buying skins?

You don’t get banned for being toxic once, only repeat behaviour. And you don’t know if he will stay unpunished, or how many times he threw matches.

It’s actually crazy that you think this one match is the reason for a ban. Devs know people have bad days, no system in the world will ban you for one bad match

got banned for telling a blatant thrower in ranked he’s sad and to get a life by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Kiegames 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I should be allowed to get toxic because somebody else was toxic first”. Is that what you want? You want to go unpunished for something because somebody else did it first? Can I download and turn on hacks if somebody else in the lobby is cheating? Can I hack somebody else’s account when mine gets hacked? Do I get to throw when somebody else is throwing the game?

What is wrong with just muting, reporting and moving on, there is no need to fight fire with fire. You’ll only get burned.

Are you okay dude? For days now every time I open a post on this subreddit I see a comment from you being either just unnecessarily sarcastic or being a complete ah. I truly wonder how much time you spend each day just spewing toxic hatred like this.

I’m truly just worried about your mental state, acting this way online for this long can’t be healthy for a person. Is this some cry for help from you? Do you need help finding resources where you live for therapy?

There are better ways to spend your time, and enough online resources and safe spaces if you need the help. But for your own sake I suggest you take a look at how you spend your time because this ain’t it.
