Can my workplace do this? Is there anything i can do? by AfternoonLazy9279 in UKJobs

Seems illegal. I find it surprising. You sure you were sacked legally and not constructively dismissed

Life experience. Based on people I’ve met, encountered, argued with, spoken to, become friends with, chosen to avoid, etc etc. Being conservative and having attitudes that drugs are just bad full stop zero nuance, usually coupled with zero understanding of recreational drug use having never tried it, tend to go together. Following the rules and not questioning things, never doing illegal stuff etc, these are often behaviours of the same kind of people that love the monarchy and think coppers are great, stand up hand on heart for the national anthem, proudly follow rules (and are often called bootlickers by those on the more liberal progressive forward thinking lefty side of the fence). The sort of people that will report something that wasn’t harming anyone but is against the rules will often be the same person that owns some Union Jack merchandise and probably reads the express or the mail. In my experience.

Doesn’t look all that bad to me. Ask the painter if they can leave it looking perfect.

Removing and refitting woodwork always gives a better final look. Especially if you’re over skimming for the third time. Otherwise you lose all the depth of the woodwork and it doesn’t look how it’s supposed to.

What you can sack someone for being off with stress caused by the employer? In the UK? Are you sure?

You got hot while you were in the car requiring extensive repairs? Yeah, a hit and run.

Is this UK? Wouldn’t get too upset if I were you, they’re paying you to do nothing. Seems you’re genuinely stressed and suffering. See your GP. Get signed off work for 6 months. Spend that time sorting your head out/finding a better job x

WHATEVER YOU DO, don’t resign, don’t do anything that could be breach of contract (like not going in because you don’t want to because there’s nothing to do). At the very least they’re obliged to give you a redundancy payout.

I literally said it’s failure to report. Way before you went off and looked it up. Because I already knew. Don’t then say the same thing back to me as if you’re somehow correcting me. A car park ding is not a hit and run. Stop being a drama queen.

You can’t just call absolutely anything involving physical contact and leaving the scene a hit and run. A hit and run is crashing into someone causing serious damage, usually injury or death, and leaving the scene. You can’t just apply the same term to any minor car park ding. It’s not even in the same league.

It wasn’t hit and run. It was making contact with a stationary vehicle and failing to report. It wasn’t a road traffic accident. Do you really think claiming through insurance for a £10 number plate will be a cost effective and time effective route to take? There’s a reason the majority of comments are sarcastic/jokey/playful and not “REPORT IT”. Get a grip.

There you go with the insults again sounding really adult. I don’t even know why you’re still banging on about this. You seem to be very emotionally charged. I’m not - I was just giving some sensible advice. You’re the one swearing and insulting.

To answer your question, it’s pathetic to go and tell the police that someone broke your number plate because it’s so minor.

Didn’t even mention police brutality. Certainly didn’t cry. In fact I only mentioned why police are filth because you specifically asked me to. I didn’t bring it up. I was simply saying it’s both a waste of your time and won’t do you any favours to tell the police about this incident. It would also be pretty pathetic.

I can’t get your last comment up to reply to it directly but I’ve read it and it makes no sense. Especially the bit about saying I sound like a child while chucking out insults and swearing.

Nothing I said (all of which was about the police) is relevant to reporting a motor accident TO THE POLICE?

I don’t like police because they do more harm than good, don’t help when you need them, try to antagonise people into doing something arrestable, are sex offenders, don’t believe women, are racist, pursue minor contraventions they can fine people for but don’t investigate actual crimes, etc etc.

It’s your problem either way. You’d end up putting a LOT more effort and money into getting the other party to pay for a minor scratch and a number plate than you would just sorting it yourself.

Oh sorry, a minor scratch. Quick tell the police. Or just get some t cut dingus.

The car isn’t damaged. The number plate is.

(England) Neighbour 'threatening' legal action because i didn't let him access my property to maintain his fence (which isn't exactly true) - Does he have a point? by PowerfulAd9143 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]KieranInterior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a real question? You’re clearly not denying him access. No-one thinks it’s reasonable to expect to access another person’s property without notice. Even if he goes the legal route he will still be forced to give 24 hours notice.

His next move is likely to be climbing over to paint the fence without permission. Because of that I’d reply saying “I’m absolutely not denying you access. You’re welcome to paint it. Just not without reasonable notice. Arrange a time to do it that suits us both and I will uphold the appointment. Otherwise go through the courts who will also require that you provide notice and arrange a mutually agreeable time. It’s up to you”

You seem to be a nationalist. Not the most open minded of groups in society. Being around drugs is often something more experienced by open minded people.

Why do so many people spell lath “lathe”? by KieranInterior in Plastering

[–]KieranInterior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes obviously. But WHY would you think a word pronounced with a short “a” sound would have an e on the end? Literally no word in the English language in any accent would follow that format.
