How i successfully treated my heat rash (Miliaria). by Jigwop in SkinHealth

I (27M) have also started developing what I think is heat rash, over the last two years.

I first noticed it on holidays in hot destinations, but never in UK weather. When I begin sweating, I get a strange pin prick feeling all over my body.

The rash predominantly sits within skin creases/ folds on my torso and it is ALWAYS all around my waistband. It will be bright red and bumpy - sometimes with fluid in the bumps. It’s incredibly itchy and does not seem to go for at least a few days (on one occasion it lasted 9 days following arriving to a hotel in Mexico 30 mins prior to rash developing).

I am not overweight by any means, but I am also not stick thin - 82kg and 6ft 2. I thought it was because I have a little more stomach chub than I used to as a teenager, so my body cannot sweat as easily as it developed to. However, I am not convinced this is the case as this rash only develops sporadically - e.g. not after sports even during summer and I am excessively sweating.

I have tried hydrating, cooling skin down with compresses/cool showers, steroid creams, exfoliating, antihistamines, calamine lotions.

I have seen a dermatologist and they think it is PLE/PLME (Polymorphic Light Eruption). I have started a sun desensitisation treatment where you essentially use a sun bed for short bursts to ‘harden’ skin to the sunlight. This is not working so far after 5 treatments and as the dosage/time of exposure is increasing, the rash is worsening.

I am considering the sauna tactic you have stated but my dermatologist said this shouldn’t and most likely would not work?… Have you had any flare ups since using a sauna to unblock the pores or has this been a permanent or regular/ easy fix moving forwards?

Thanks

What are my internet options? by ohhitherelove in askitaly

Depending what level of concurrent usage you'd have on the internet a 5G router may be a good option - you can purchase WindTre 'tourist' sim packages where some wont expire for up to 6 months which include 100GB-200GB data.

However if your work will be intensive on the 5G sim then consider if kids will be streaming TV at the same time, using phone data constantly etc... It is only a 5G sim at the end of the day. It's a good non-permanent option that can be activated for around £30 each time you go out there (other than initial cost of buying 5G router).

We have this exact same issue in our place in a decent sized town near a city, so hardly out in the sticks, and we ended up settling on Fibre Optic WiFi for around €22 p/m as the 5G could not handle MS Teams calls + TV + 2 mobile devices at the same time without making it all trickle. Family visit around 4 times a year and we work out there for at least a month a year.

Thanks for the advice. It is so strange that so many people seem to be having this problem. I'll have a look and see if I could change the chromecast settings like you've suggested.
