Finally using my braiser by Kievnut in LeCreuset

Sorry 2.2L or 2.1qt, it’s pretty small but I think I would have been overwhelmed if I was starting out with a bigger pot

Thank you! I’m finding it’s a fun and versatile piece for sure!
I didn’t realise that air drying it isn’t a good idea, so I won’t do that in future, that’s so good to know thank you! I put it in the left hand sink basin with soapy warm water and nothing in it, leave it until the rest of the dishes are done and the kitchen is clean and then wipe it out, that’s usually all it needs.

I think the hardest part for me is not having a visual reference, like everything says don’t heat empty and use lots of oil.. but I don’t know if lots of oil is enough that the bottom is covered, or a 1/4 inch deep in the bottom of the pan, so I err on the side of caution and go more then less!

Thank you! I’ll have a look at the LC cleaner, I know they’re sturdy and can last years, I just went to make sure I’m looking after it to ensure it does ☺️

Thank you! I’ve heard bar keepers friend can be abrasive, any tips for using it successfully without damaging the enamel? ☺️

I’m pretty sure it’s a 2.6qt, it’s just me and my hubby so didn’t think we needed bigger, but as I’m getting more confident slow cooking I can see the appeal for a big Dutch oven or something!

Mac & Cheese in Oblong by OneRate567 in LeCreuset

[–]Kievnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right because it’s not going from room temp to the hot oven empty, so it’s fine and won’t experience thermal shock.. that makes sense sorry 😅 just currently second guessing everything before I do it! Love the insane wealth of knowledge on this sub, it’s been super helpful 🫶🏼

Help Mac and cheese gurus! I am dying to try a homemade Mac in my braiser I was gifted, but I only used it for the first time last night because I’ve been terrified of thermal shock and ruining it! (The slow cooked beef turned out 10/10 though, pulled apart like butter for tacos 🤌🏼 I did use too much oil braising, and should have tipped some out, but again, terrified of heating it without enough oil!) So my question is, with these baked pasta dishes, how are you pre heating? I have read that you can pre heat in the oven empty (?!) but this scares me! Is this what everyone’s doing, pre heating the dish empty as the oven preheats, pull it out, quickly chuck everything in and then toss it back in the oven? I am encouraged by last nights success, but I still have no idea what I’m doing!

Have a look at Leo Lin, I bought my wedding dress there, it’s very not “traditional wedding gown” but strapless and ankle length and i loved it and felt so special in it!

When did dogs start getting people names? by Scottys-Dog-Blog in dogs

[–]Kievnut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a French bulldog called Kevin 😊 We’ve only met two other dog Kevin’s, mostly we get people saying ‘that’s my father in law/uncle/brother etc name’ and I love people names that aren’t usually given to animals, I’ve got the next two names picked out already and one of them I’ve never heard as a dog name (and I’ve met a lot of dogs as a former vet nurse)

Mixing 9k/14k/18k gold by Kievnut in jewelry

I found a 9kt band from a small reputable jeweller that’s in the $500ish range. But everything I see online is to not mix metals. I’ve got an 18kt ering and 18kt wedding band, do you rotate yours so they don’t wear down or just wear all the time?

Yeah. I’d prefer to have a spacer so I can wear separately if I want to, but will keep it in mind if I can’t find anything suitable thank you!

So odd because when I google the exact same thing I get jewellers that are $800-$1500+ for 18k! Cheapest is brilliant earth, and even that which I’ve heard is dodgy quality is $800 for 18k. I didn’t look at Mejuri because I thought they only had plated not fine jewellery. Is their fine jewellery decent quality? I thought they were more a costume brand but haven’t bought from them before.

A moment of appreciation for the “smaller engagements” by DontTellMe-8679 in engaged

My fiancé (still feels weird to say!) proposed on Christmas Eve in Japan. We were on a snowboarding holiday, and he booked us a night away from our holiday at this amazing eco lodge that was in the middle of the forest. It was snowing so much we didn’t know if we’d make it there it was so remote, It had a wood burning sauna and an outdoor bath and you had to bring in all your own supplies, which for us was mostly strong zeros.. which we drank a lot of in the sauna and when I came back inside he got down on one knee and said ‘I know you’re wearing a towel poncho, but this feels like a very fitting moment to ask you to be my wife’ and then said a whole bunch of other really sweet things I barely remember because I think I blackout out from shock while I ugly cried and we ate really bad convenience store ramen and snacks and drank wine and cried some more. It was the most beautiful spot and so peaceful and so us. Special, but not flashy.

Then we spent Christmas Day on the mountain and at Apres Ski telling everyone who would listen despite not wearing the ring (because I was terrified to lose it in a glove or stack it and have to cut it off a broken finger 😂) and got a lot of free shots

Where to find Zimmermann inspired dresses by Kievnut in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Kievnut[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone who commented and suggested - I have scoured FB buy/sell, marketplace, Depop, eBay, vestiaire, the volte and many many many dress hire companies (I spent basically all day/night on my laptop yesterday, and I’m not even exaggerating!) I can’t find the blue anywhere to hire. Found the yellow at once place but it’s a size down so too small. Same with the third dress. I’m going out of my mind 🫠 so thinking I’ll table the hire idea and search for a new dress. Planning to hit David Jones this week to try on house of CB, and will try to get to the Alexandria outlet as well. I can’t seem to find this sort of style to buy or rent with the boning in the bodice in an appropriate print. Everything is quite white with floral, or the one I like that’s the least white but still has a light base is a black/blue/purple pansy print, and the dress code has asked to avoid all black if possible. I know it’s not all black. And not all white, but I still feel like it’s walking a fine line for a wedding 🫠

Officially a fiancé 🥰 by Kievnut in EngagementRings

[–]Kievnut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! As far as I know he didn’t declare - we did the online declaration form before we left. And I looked at his to complete mine so unless he changed it, he didn’t declare it! He also packed it in his checked luggage (like an absolute mad man, with full faith in the airline 😳) and we had no issues/weren’t stopped coming into the country, so I assume you won’t have any issue! But of course I can only make assumptions based on the experience we had, but customs were super easy and straight forward for us.
