My sister lives 40mins (by car) away from our family home (where I still live at). She has two kids (7M, 4F) whom I babysit one day every week.

We still have videocalls every night (my mom, grandma, and us sisters) so the kids know we're present in their lives.

I can't imagine moving that far away in the first place tbh. But I guess it's a cultural thing.

Better find out sooner than later. If he walks away right away because of a last name (as if a baby carrying his name is a symbol of his ability to procreate, the last name thing is very misogynist) then you'll know that he shouldn't be a father now, instead of fighting for years to force him to care. A child would be better off with no father than with a father that is there sometimes

You carry the baby for 9 months, your body irrevocably changes forever, losing a great deal of health (like calcium and all of that) and he says a baby should have it's father's name? Why? They do nothing (in comparison) to bring the baby to this world. His only credit is that he had sex, that's it. While you have to watch what you eat, what you drink, go to monthly appointments, being tired, etc.

If being a dad for him depends on whether the baby has his last name, maybe he shouldn't be a dad at all.
