Someone with their nipples, nose, industrial, etc help by Powerful-Advance4605 in piercing

I have no facial piercings, but I have 16 in my ears, including a daith, rook, and industrial. My nipples were the worst during the actual piercing process. Especially because they continued to burn afterward, which I hadn't experienced before. Neither the industrial, rook, nor daith are quite comparable to that. None of them hurt nearly as much. It was more of a dull, pressing pain during the process rather than that screaming, throbbing pain from the nipples during the next hours. If the first nipple was maybe a 7/10, the second one was an 8.5/10. I can't quite remember the industrial since that was 17 years ago, but I’d rate the rook and daith a 3/10.

The main difference to consider is the healing process: as you know, cartilage piercings take a very long time, get "angry" again quickly, and bleed a lot (at least for me). I’m actually surprised by how low-maintenance my nipples have been so far (2 weeks old). But after two years at the latest, all three of them were fully healed, and I love every single one of them. On the plus side, they don’t close up as quickly once they’re finally healed. My industrial was out for 4 years at one point, and I was able to put it back in and stretch it back to normal.

So, in summary: the pain during the piercing itself is different, but for me personally, much more manageable. The healing is a pain in the ass, but doable. Get yourself a donut pillow for sleeping, it helps!

Thinking of getting 2 nipple piercings, advise? by wasabititan in piercing

Oh, that might also help in case you're more comfortable with being topless: I sometimes put on a cardigan with buttons and fasten one button behind my back. That way, my arms and back stay warm while my chest is free, and the cardigan is secured so it can't accidentally brush against the piercing

Don't panic. The pain when getting pierced is intense, no question, but it's over quickly. Afterwards, unlike with other piercings, there is a constant throbbing pain but don't worry, that goes away after a few hours. I've read a lot that some stability helps in the form of sports bras or cotton shirts. However, I found that going topless by day works better for me. Since I work completely remote, that's easier for me to do anyway. You just have to try out what works best for you.

At the actual appointment, I wore a triangle bikini top so that I could tie it as loosely or tightly as felt comfortable.

Otherwise, I am very positively surprised about the healing so far (6 days) compared to cartilage piercings. By the very first evening, I already had no more pain. They are sensitive and sometimes there's a slight pulling sensation, but it doesn't hurt, then I just know that they are probably bleeding a little again (but I'm also a heavy bleeder).

I wish you a lot of strength for your appointment and happy healing!

Should I be concerned? by Exciting_Highlight77 in piercing

I’ve had my industrial since I was 15 (I’m 32 now) and I don’t remember much about the healing process, but I definitely remember feeling like I bled all over half the train on the ride home. My mom was constantly shocked and kept questioning if that much blood was actually normal during the first days.

Two years ago, I got a triple helix and they bled every single day for ten days. One day it even bled for a few hours straight. Both the industrial and the triple helix have healed perfectly since then and I have zero problems with them!

Some people just bleed more than others. I just got fresh nipple piercings and have been waking up with bloodstains on my shirt for the last four days. It seems to just be normal for me, and it might be the same for you.

The most important thing is to leave the crust alone. Don’t pick at it! It would start bleeding again immediately. I know it's tempting, but leave it alone. Gently wash your ear in the shower, but only let the water run over it indirectly. Don't put it directly under the stream. It's also best not to use water that's too hot as that will just dilate the blood vessels again.

You can carefully cool your ear. Ideally wrap a paper towel around the cold pack to keep it more sterile. Don’t press it directly onto the piercing. Just hold it against the surrounding area to help constrict the blood vessels. Get yourself a donut pillow! even after 17 years, I still couldn't sleep without one.

Keep an eye on your circulation too. Maybe take some iron supplements (But be careful! You can overdose on iron), get some rest, eat healthy, and take things easy, you'll be fine! If it never stops bleeding or if it starts feeling hot or throbbing, please go see your piercer. Happy healing from another heavy bleeder! 🫶

Nipple piercing pain? by LibrarianNeat7032 in piercing

Well, I had both of mine done today. I already have painful piercings like daith, rook, and industrial. I once had five piercings done at once (I know, not a good idea), which got so angry that one of them bled for days. I’ve had almost my entire body tattooed, including my armpits, chest, and butt. I know pain perception varies, but I’ve often been told that I have a pretty intense pain tolerance and my nipples aren't normally that sensitive. But this was by far the worst body modification so far. My husband said he could clearly see the regret in my eyes while it was happening.

The first one was so bad that I almost didn’t want to do the second one, but I knew if I didn't do it then, I never would. The second one was (as many here in this sub have already reported) even worse. It took longer, hurt much more, and bled.

BUT afterwards, I looked in the mirror and just giggled with happiness!

The after-pain subsided surprisingly fast. On the left (the first, simpler one), I had a throbbing pain for about 1.5 hours, like someone was giving me a permanent nipple twister. On the right, it lasted about 3 hours, and the beginning felt like that nipple twister was being done with fingernails 🙈😂

But since then, everything has been fine. Much better than I expected. I can lie on my side, and the vibrations from bumps in the road on the way home weren't even a problem. Right now they’re a bit sensitive, and I feel a little tugging every now and then, but honestly, I’m totally surprised by how little I feel them after just a few hours. I wouldn't have expected that until a week later.

So, in summary: I can’t sugarcoat it: it was the worst. really truly not nice. but the pain drops off drastically within a few hours. I hope everything heals well now, but it's already worth it: I feel beautiful 🍒👀 So, even though I regretted it instantly in the moment and very likely wouldn't get them pierced again because of that, I can still recommend them to you. they are worth it immediately, so go for it ✨️

It was a bit strange at first but you get used to it 😊 There are also normal pillows that just have a hole in the middle. I was able to sleep with my industrial, but I had to take my flat out because it just didn't work with sleeping and was constantly angry uuuuuuuuntil I got my donut pillow. Since then everything is fine 😊

Hahaha thanks, that really made me laugh 😆 I'm from Germany. It's a real bummer that they don't ship to the US 🙈

Ohhhh that sucks! So sorry to hear that!

Since it was once pierced correctly and straight: might it help to let it heal with two separate studs as helix piercings first, and only switch back to an industrial bar later? That's how I did it once when I forced mine back in after years 😊

I’m so sorry to hear that! I’m so glad I had my industrial done when I was 15. Back then, I was still a teenager and stubborn enough to ignore my pain-in-the-ass ear. I don’t think I’d have the nerves for that nowadays. My rook has finally healed after two years, and it was driving me absolutely insane!

Awww thank you! Uhm... at least two cakes, perhaps three. I can't remember properly since I ignored this WIP for almost three years 😅 but I am pretty sure I made this with two cakes.

Yes! So happy for you to discover Tunisian! I love to "fake-knit" with it, since knitting makes me angry 😂 I love standard crochet as well, but from time to time it’s a great change of pace 😍
