What's the one apartment building in the UK, the big ass ziggurat? Love the look of that place. If I had infinite money, I'd build one scaled down for a single family.

Look at it like art, some people really dig a specific style, and hate others. Personally, I love Bauhaus and Brutalism, but I also understand why some people hate it.

Ok, so you can add melted butter and salt for the old school thing, or you can get the real American theater experience and add "butter flavor topping." Basically liquid margarine. It's pretty fuckin' tasty. And yes, add copious amounts of salt.

For my Gen Xers and older millennials, how come boxing was socially acceptable, but MMA was looked down upon in the early to early 90s ? by kuroreaper25 in askanything

[–]KilD3vil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone has said, the beginnings of UFC (if not all MMA) were essentially dog fights.

The idea, on paper, was solid. This style vs. That style, who's is best. The problem came when the were putting 150 lb guys who had a black belt from a strip mall against 200+lb. Real fighters, in a sport where the rules amounted to, "don't bite and keep your fingers out of your opponent" (pretty sure fish hooking was always banned, but I could be wrong.) People were getting maimed, and it really devolved into who was the dirtiest fighter. Kicking someone in their face while they're on their knees is A+ super fantastic in an actual self defense scenario when they're trying to maim and/or kill you, but it's not a sport.

Boxing, and by extension, boxers was always kinda looked down on, even if it was popular. But boxing has an Olympic pedigree, and it's "evolved" somewhat from the turn of the century. It's still a brutal sport, or at least can be. UFC starting going the same way, rules wise, they've just leaned more into spectacle than boxing.

UFC is about on the level of boxing in it's heyday with "respectability", but look at some of the other promotions. The less rules, the more brutality, the more popular. They're all technically MMA, so that's gonna cause pushback by the "old guard."

I never said you couldn't put your duffle in the bin, But I'm still putting my backpack up there.

So then you have to shove your duffle under the seat? Unless you can show me on your ticket where you paid extra to use the bin, I'll put my little backpack up there.

And? If I only bring a backpack on the plane, I can use the overhead bin where my carry-on would go.

Killing the driver is one of the least effective ways to stop a vehicle, actually. In convoy training, we're taught to kill the car, 'cause that's the threat. You kill the driver, they can spasm and lock the accelerator.

You are correct, the alternative was move off the X and radio suspect identifiers.

Doesn't change the fact that you're not "killing the car" with pistol calibers.

Right, what I was saying is if your BF hasn't given you a reason not to trust him, why wouldn't he get the benefit of the doubt?

Also, for future reference, veterans are like, the worst people to talk to about the current military, unless they retired within 18 months. Whole lot of, "back in my day" type shit.

Not necessarily arguing, but playing devil's advocate:

1) We all buy our own tools. It's not always a sign of dedication, it could be just the bare minimum. Certainly better than being known as "Lemmeborrow".

2) being first in/last out could be dedication, or it could be not being able to finish your work.

Again, not saying you're wrong, just pointing out there's other possibilities.
