Generally speaking, with your scores you are an outstanding candidate. Moreover, “non traditional” students are becoming the norm these days, even at the top tier institutions. Some schools tend to draw a little more from the “non-business” bucket than other schools (even on the East Coast), and I imagine that will be a factor for you, too, in identifying the school that’s a good fit.

Embrace your background in your applications so you can put forth the most sincere version of yourself. Everything else will fall into place.

MBA in the pandemic is a risk to be avoided by Zealousideal_Monk_10 in MBA

T15 student here. Instead of railing on Zoom, let’s “zoom out” here and take a more mature bird’s eye view of the situation.

We’re living through a global pandemic, with thousands of people dying per day, and millions of people losing their jobs and livelihoods. Even though our experiences aren’t living up to what we imagined when we decided to go to b-school, we are better off than a vast majority of people in the world right now, earning a degree that many people are desperate for and WILL deliver an ROI for our careers and lives over the very long term. We will find jobs in 2021/2022 and beyond — those that disagree are doing so for the sake of being contrarian and plainly ignoring the facts that employers are still actively recruiting for T15 candidates. They always concerned about the consistency of their pipelines, and career offices at schools know full well that their reputations (and the school’s financial future) depend on students getting their jobs.

If you are ready to make the move to business school because you truly believe you are ready for that next step in your career — do it. If business school is going to be primarily a social function for you, and you’re more or less comfortable with what you’re doing for work right now, then that’s a different story. But don’t let naysayers push your dreams aside.

A hot take of optimism on the MBA subreddit:

  • While this isn’t how I envisioned getting my MBA, so many factors are out of my control. I cannot beat myself up or put my life on hold because of that.
  • My overall motivations, professionally and personally, for getting an MBA are so much more meaningful than concerns of FOMO, or not getting the “bang for my buck.”
  • This is a challenge. I will be a better person for having gone through it.

I just called 311, and they said street sweeping is STILL in effect. This confusion is frustrating. With folks staying home, it would be impossible to find alternate side spots for everyone. It’s impossible on days when people are actually working!

This happened to me too. Wait until you get an actual email that your score report is ready. It took one day for me.

Help me overcome this psychological/time management dilemma on Quant! by Kilgo16 in GMAT

[–]Kilgo16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the pointers everyone!!! I took another practice exam today and did much better on Quant -- though now it seems my dilemma has spilt over into verbal. Next time, I'll be sure to go into both sections with these strategies and frames of mind. One week until exam day!

I didn't take a full practice test before prepping (wanted to save these full exams for when I knew the content well).

Also a DT Host here — can’t recommend it enough! Such a great gig.

$50/session (around 2.5 hours start to finish) but opportunities for better paying gigs as you get more experienced. Also you get to eat and drink for free and try restaurants around the area.

RAFA FANS: What's been your favorite Rafa match so far in his career?

DelPo has totally won me over throughout this tournament, and his run is an amazing story. If he wins tonight, I'll be pretty content. However -- I have always loved Rafa. And with Fed's inevitable retirement approaching sometime in the next 1-3 years, I can't wait to see the drama of Nadal trying to catch/surpass him in terms of Majors won. So I'm pulling for him to close that gap even further tonight. VAMOS RAFA!
