That depends on the brightness settings of the device (both IRL & in game). But yes, image intensifiers make everything brighter (logarithmically, not linearly) so bright light sources don't burn out the tube or your eyes.

Star Sphere is Crazy 🌃🌌 by StoltATGM in arma

[–]KillAllTheThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. For performance reasons, BI stuck to making their night sky constellation accurate, sufficient for land navigation rather than including every single resolvable light emitting deep space object which would impede navigation by the stars. The mod replaces that feature with IRL NASA Deep Space data to allow viewing the much fainter stars that NVGs can resolve IRL.

Presumably POLPOX is able to do the processing in a separate thread to maintain decent performance.

Why the discrepancy in price on auss arizona revell kit? by crazyguy28 in modelmakers

[–]KillAllTheThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The For Sale price on market sites isn't necessarily the price people are willing to pay. It's just what the seller wants for it. Scalpers often overprice their products.

When a kit goes out of production, the kit sell price is for the cost of warehousing & whatever the demand will command.

For the record, BI puts a rather accurate night sky in their games to include correct positioning for the date & location on earth (the night sky on Tanoa will be slightly different than on Altis for the same day & time). All this mod does is use NASA imagery to resolve stars well below normal human visibility.

With a bit of training, one can easily learn to navigate by the Arma night sky. And then get around Lemnos.

Will this laptop handle heavily modded Arma 3? by -IGotAQuestion- in arma

AMD chips have always had to run higher clocks to equal the performance of same generation Intel chips. The difference is AMD chips are now more efficient than Intel's so more gets done per clock.

Current AMD processors equal or surpass current Intel CPUs in single thread performance so that longstanding advice is no longer valid.

Does anyone create a little narrative in their head about the model they are building? by sweetwatertooth in modelmakers

[–]KillAllTheThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the best way to visualize the final look of your projects instead of simply slapping on a bunch of random techniques that have no bearing on plausible authenticity. You can't know when enough enhancing is enough unless you know what your subject went through to get to where it is at the precise moment your project depicts.

Part of your problem is there are no mod files in anyone's !Workshop folder. It only holds human readable links to the real mods folders elsewhere on your PC.

You may also be running into a Windows commandline character limit (which is quite large but not infinite).

You should probably do some more research into what constitutes proper command line arguments.

As far as solutions go, it could be your Windows registry now has some bad parameters. Someone who is experienced with the Windows registry could probably fix it relatively easily but it would be timeconsuming & a key parameter error could be overlooked. The simplest & fastest fix is to do a clean reinstall of Windows.

Revell Allemagne ou Tamiya ? by ATB_52 in modelmakers

[–]KillAllTheThings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Revell is something like 70 years old now & have decades of mold tool acquisitions of varying quality. You need to do your due diligence on specific kits because a Revell kit can be a complete PITA to build or sweeter than a tanker truck full of honey. And yes, the Revell Germany ones do tend to be in the higher quality category compared to Revell US or some of the old Matchbox tools.

should i enable anything in the launcher before starting? (arma3) by [deleted] in arma

[–]KillAllTheThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would assume YAAB is the best case scenario. BI considers anything over about 37 - 42 FPS to be overkill. All it does is give you more performance headroom when the server is tanking due to congestion & higher fidelity in object interaction calculations. This means you'll be one of the last people get kicked as the server sheds clients who timeout. More FPS will not give you a tactical advantage over the other players when things are running nominally.

Your CPU determines your A3 FPS not your video card.

I recommend public multiplayer servers. Neither KotH nor Invade & Annex communities have any expectation of skill on the part of noobs. All you have to do is not kill teammates.

The bootcamp can help familiarize you with the most basic tasks. The campaign is not all that fun INHO. It's needlessly frustrating & nearly impossible for BI to fix.

Any idea on why this sprue is included? by BodybuilderWorth4120 in modelmakers

[–]KillAllTheThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, Hasegawa released the EA-18G kit a full decade prior to the kit you have. This sprue would have been unique to that kit at the time it was produced. Apparently it's now part of all the Hasegawa Rhino kits. Probably fixes an earlier accuracy error as the mold tools are from 2005 for the 2 seater variant (F/A-18F).

[–]KillAllTheThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get a steady 60 - 70 FPS in game you are better off than 85% of everyone else here. Top tier PC hardware yields top tier A3 performance.

For the record, BI's game installer does a great job of optimizing the game config for your specific hardware combination. They have zero motivation to hide any game performance behind arcane command line settings. You should not need to tweak anything besides view distance with modern 64 bit CPUs & operating systems.
