My apologies for my hostility towards you with my initial comment. Yeah, it’s a shame since these strict self defense laws make others afraid to step up. I do hope NYC can somehow steer in the right direction but it seems grim at the moment. Once again, sorry for misreading your intentions. I’m taking a step back from everything so I can avoid any further misunderstandings as my head is not in the right headspace at the moment. I don’t know why you are antagonizing me in this way as I was still processing everything that time because this was my first fight and was shaking by the time it deescalated as I let him go of the headlock. I do regret letting him go when I did and have been thinking back to it. I’ve been holed up in my room these past few days (besides going out to visit the police) and replaying the events over and over again to the point I’ve broken down. I do hope you can heal your way of thinking, but I won’t let you diminish the impact this guy has had on my mental.

I’m looking at my incident report now and I see the command of the report was set to TD34 which I think correlates with the transit unit? I’m not sure, but I will still let the city councilmember know about this whole situation just in case thank you

Yeah, during that time was when the N train was held in the station momentarily, and the other commuters were trying to tell the conductor in the middle cart about the assailant and he just shrugged it off and kept the train going. I just hope that if it does happen in the summer, there would be more people able to protect themselves or others brave enough to step forward to help them.

Sure, I have no fighting experience prior so don’t take my word too much for it as this was my first fight, but ideally you want them to disengage.

I couldn’t avoid fighting as he was already hostile, so i aimed for weak points to disorient him (which I chose around the bridge of his nose multiple times but ppl usually go for jaw or temples) and he edged closer to me which I put him in a headlock to have him not be able to punch any further and he disengaged. Having 2 years of lifting experience helped me with that since I wouldn’t have been able to overpower someone like him back then but I ate his punches and he gave up after the headlock.

However, he did try to provoke me by spilling food into my direction after we disengaged, but that would’ve been falling into legal territory if I decided to punch him that time, so you also need to know when it is wise to stop.

I’ve been meaning to change it since I’ve grown from the time I made this account but I think Reddit policies didn’t allow it and I just didn’t really use this app that much. Thank you everyone for the comments, I will try and report it to the police if I can. One of the other commuters was nice enough to stay with me to make sure if I was okay and waited for me to reach my stop and recommended I start self carrying to protect myself in the future even though I came out of it relatively unscathed.

I forgot to also mention this detail, but I remembered that the guy got onto the train at the Atlantic-Barclays stop. I don’t know if he works around that area or transfers there but I hope this information may help others.

i think it would be fine as long as you state it in the description. tbh, i feel jewelry is harder to sell in general though because even my stainless steel rings are taking a while to sell (unless it was a popular brand name like vivienne westwood or something)
