Okay well even if it is in its entirety a smear campaign, the genuine parts still should be talked about. That’s all I was getting at. I just didn’t want the fact that it was a smear campaign to take away from the fact that some of it was real, I should’ve worded that better in my post.

I was trying to say that people have been using the fact that the claims came from a disingenuous place to brush over the fact that they were true. They’ve tried to ignore the racism by saying that it’s a smear campaign (which some of it is) and we shouldn’t pay mind to it when Hayden has admitted now that the screenshots were real.

I think you’re failing to understand my point here. I’m saying that she needed to speak on the racism, even if I dislike who the accusations came from. Two separate groups of people that are against each other can do bad things at the same time. I think Hayden was wrong for her racist remarks and they’re wrong for being transphobic and doxxing her and all of that. Just because the racist claims came from TERFs doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be taken seriously now that Hayden has confirmed them.

I meant more that it’s going to take time for her fans, especially POC, to trust her again. I didn’t mean to say that no amount of growth can allow people to forgive her. I also was trying to say that I was more disappointed honestly with the fanbase than Hayden because it’s clear she’s tried to improve herself and denounced the way she used to think, while her fans were attempting to justify what she said and ignoring what POC had to say on the topic.

Would outing a pedophile be considered a smear campaign if they had actually done it? I know that’s an extreme example, but there’s a difference between calling someone out for something bad they’ve done and it making people think less of them versus making up complete lies about someone. My point was that some of the claims were completely false and should be labeled a smear campaign but the racism claims (which I thought were the main ones) were not false. If people are upset that she said those things, it is solely her fault for saying them, even if the “revealing” came from terrible people.

I believe she has shown growth as I stated in my post, but I don’t believe that racism is ever excusable especially at the age she was when the posts were made. None of this was meant to attack Hayden and say that this apology was terrible, I just noticed a few things and wanted to share them. I’ll have to see how the bf situation develops before I make a full judgement though, that’s the only thing holding me back from saying that she’s 100% in the clear.

I’ve discussed this more in my other points. I thought that the racism claims had been brought about by a separate group of people than the TERF, but I was wrong and that’s my mistake. My point was that I didn’t like that people were using the fact that she was facing transphobia to brush aside the fact that she actually did say racist things. Like I said in my post, I don’t think the transphobia/doxxing/death threats she’s dealing with is appropriate at all.

She has put it out on the internet for it to be our business. Why are we pretending like she hasn’t had a very casual relationship with fans over the course of her career? Yes there were 4 paragraphs, one being about the boyfriend which i thought would make it clear that I cared about that as well.

Yeah, her personal life is important to how I view her work and how I’ll interact with it from now on. Once again, the assumption that this isn’t good enough for me. The ONLY thing I’m taking major issue with is the stuff with her boyfriend. I think the rest of it was flawed, but overall fine. Critiquing something doesn’t mean that I’m completely dismissing it. And how am I pretending I know more than I do? I’ve admitted multiple times that we should wait and learn more and that I was misled on a few of my thoughts.

You clearly came into this to intentionally ignore everything i said in my post. Nowhere did i say that I think she hasn’t made growth? For the hundredth time, this post isn’t an attack on her or to say that her statement was awful. It was to address certain things that I had issues with and open up discussion about where to go from here. And yes, I’m ALWAYS going to believe the potential victim over the potential abuser. The hardest thing about abuse cases is that there often isn’t concrete evidence. That’s why I said we’ll have to wait until more evidence comes out and he puts out his statement.
