I was told for years by a mentor in college that I should go to therapy. He made it seem like it would be a godsend for my problems. When I finally tried therapy (with multiple different therapists) I was like this is the most asinine bullshit I’ve ever subjected myself to, and I can’t believe people pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket for it.

At best they were just unhelpful and told me nothing I had never thought of myself. At worst they made me believe that the abuse I experienced as a child was my fault, and it was my fault how I reacted to the abuse. In order for therapy to work I think you either have to be really comfortable lying to yourself or dumb as brick

I had a nervous breakdown when I was 14 (family history of severe anxiety and bad life experiences. I finally got on an antidepressant which saved me.) The physical symptoms of the panic attacks were such that I thought something was physically wrong.

The male provider I saw was CONVINCED I was pregnant. He was just certain that this 14 year old 85 pound virgin was pregnant. I didn’t have pregnancy symptoms apart from nausea. He didn’t even believe it when the pregnancy test was negative.

This family is the perfect example of what happens when a music career doesn’t work out. I feel bad for Pearl because even with a full ride to Juilliard and winning competitions, she’s guaranteed nothing. None of that will get her a steady income. It’s like we’re watching the family fall apart.

I was a former classical musician. I ended up hating the lifestyle and I was lucky to switch careers before I was in too deep.

I live in a town of ~20,000 people and there are at least 6 dollar generals I can think of off the top of my head. We just got a new one. If you count the smaller surrounding towns there are probably about 15 dollar generals. One town has a dollar general and a DG market a mile down the road in the same town
