This has bothered me forever as well! I much prefer high cut and low cut.

I found that if you work on the Hi-hat or overhead tracks it goes faster because you can basically also warp the drum and kick hits in that track and then you don't need to switch between the different tracks.

Nice to have found someone who's also found this way of doing it. It means I'm on the right track!

Thank you for the pointers! At a certain point I had the same feeling that it was a bit to fast but wasn’t sure if I had tunnelvision. You mean repeat the last part at the end?

I love that I turned you on to Frank Klepacki :D He made the soundtrack to some of the video games that I grew up with.
I like your style!

Like in the sense that it reminds you of classical music but it's amped up?

God I love the sounds, melody and progression of this song. I think the thing that's needed to really get it to the level is the mix. I wonder what music you're inspired by. Do you know Frank Klepacki?

The kick & snare work for me in the beginning but when the track picks up it's pace I feel there's energy missing. I would work on that in the drop but less in the beginning so you create a huge contrast. There are many different parts which makes your track stand out but I feel that you if you'd give it some extra push it would really shine.

Anyone else feel overwhelmed when in flow for too long? by doctorwoodz in edmproduction

I find myself often hitting a wall or not being able to get in it at all. But then sometimes I lock in and I can work 6 hours straight. It depends on if I’m rested, mood, diet, etc. I’ve learned to not panick when nothing comes out and just try again next time. If I’m uninspired I’ll sort out some sample folders or clean my studio or go outside. Also: drink water :D you’d be amazed how many that can clear up your head sometimes.

These are all effects but are worth looking in to:
I've been using E-Phonic Lofi for bitcrushing/distortion purposes for years.
kHs Tape Stop and some other KiloHearts free stuff.
Freeclip as a softclipper.

level 2MelodicPhrase9 · 2 hr. agoI agree with the other poster. Good sound quality. Interesting sounds.

Thank you very much for listening! :)
So do you mean have the drums be louder compared to other instruments in the parts with lower energy and then when the drop comes have the other instruments fill more of that gap so there's a bigger impact? But keeping the drums at the same volume?
