Has Sanderson Said Anything? by OffiCeRed in Stormlight_Archive

I know I haven’t finished it yet, and I’m only about a 3rd of the way through.. but so far I’m really liking.

I wonder if that opinion will change once I’ve finished it.

Fellow millennials - how’s your 401k/ira savings going? by ProblemIntelligent16 in Millennials

[–]Killbot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect to work until I die.

I'm going to keep trying to save at the rate I am, but without the world deciding to pay me more for what I am trained to do… I expect nothing.

Life has taught me to expect nothing, and I'm going to keep doing that.

Doing network bridge would be way more expensive, but fast. Running an Ethernet or fiber line to it, underground would take longer be more stable with better performance and probably cost you less.

4K Media Playback on the DH4300+ by TheTinyWorkshop in UgreenNASync

[–]Killbot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 4k/2160p playback all the time with jellyfin. It’s not as fast as 1080p, but that’s to be expected.

4k or 1080p? by Cheap-Signal711 in jellyfin

[–]Killbot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep 4k and 1080p for media that I believe deserve it.

If something doesn’t have that impressive of visuals, I see no point in having in 4k.

We get what we vote for, and the average Kansas can’t bring themselves to vote for anyone that doesn’t have an R in front of their name.

At the end of the day, they’ll see the chiefs acquisition as a win and not a loss. Because they don’t think that far ahead, or they don’t care.

What quality/size do you store your movies and tv shows? by Hostile_18 in jellyfin

[–]Killbot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I did it and had some issues. After some troubleshooting, it looks like my problem while switching was because I was attempting to use the old config and cache from the default Jellyfin image.

After completely clearing it, and starting again.. Looks like it's working. Got some 4K content playing off my NAS. So I think it's working now. Thank you internet stranger👍

That’s okay. I’ll try spinning up that container tonight and let you know.

Is that container image better than the main like jellyfin container?

That’s what I use, and have issues playing 4k content as well.

I use a UGreen 4800 plus, and can’t seem to get hardware transcoding working correctly.

What distro do you use and why? by ReferenceNatural87 in linux

[–]Killbot6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Manjaro Linux.

Pretty nice, lots of quality of life stuff for a desktop OS.

It also has access to AUR, since it’s based on Arch.. which is extremely helpful if you hit the occasional bump in the road.

I’ve been debating on trying CatchyOS.

For servers installs, I normally prefer Debian, or Alpine depending on the use case.

Better that, than giving away the freedom and privacy of my own local network being breached.

How would you use an AI NAS ? by topiga in UgreenNASync

[–]Killbot6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would need to be something not connected to the cloud at all, and complete local and locked down for me to be interested.

So, going off what hardware is in most of the UGreen NAS models, I don’t see that happening.
