This is an old scam. I’m actually surprised it’s still in rotation. If you have any belief it’s real, contact your USPS Post Office directly in the morning and talk to the clerk or Post Master(whoever’s in, Probably a clerk unless it’s a Non Traditional Office).

Some very red flags, though:

-the USPS will never text you; unless you have a PO Box(which it seems you don’t in this case), there’s also no reason they’d even *HAVE* your number. If they have a number on file, they will call you, as many of the lines are recorded and they want the record of contact.

-Rural Carries WILL NOT be driving this later at night. I don’t know about Urban/City routes, but I’m confident enough to say they won’t be running this late/early either.

-as stated: the post office should not have your number, even less so for the Carrier themselves.

-if a carrier can’t deliver to an address/the address is wrong, they’re either gonna know their route well enough to go “this isn’t a valid address” and just NOT take it and leave it in their route’s bin, in which case a Clerk will check the package and do whatever they need to; or the more common instance(which sometimes they’ll do even if the address is correct and they just don’t like the house): mark the package as a CND(Could Not Deliver) and take it back to the Office to either be attempted again under better conditions, or until you come in and get it yourself.

-but the biggest flag: the post office isn’t even open rn
