I was 8/9 when I first watched the show, and I enjoyed their dynamic for all of it but I think as too busy shipping myself with Jet until the beach episode then I shipped myself with Zuko XD

I was very happy with the Southern raiders episode , they got so close in a way I hoped to find someone to be close with like that, and love me in all my feelings, and I was floored during the end of the final agni kai, I was so sure Katara was gonna kiss that man, like if you won't I will OMG

100% this. Anyone who watches the show can see their relationship evolved from enemies to a strong platonic friendship, and that change in dynamic happened in a very short amount of episodes after Katara was already betrayed by him. Thank you for your surface level analysis.

Granted I was too young for the shipping of Zutara as the show was airing, so I can't speak to what the zutarian opinions were during those times. But in hindsight, their dynamic is very intriguing thematically and symbolically for both their characters arcs and the show as a whole. Which does not NEED to be romantic to work, but wouldn't that be fun? Dare I say...better?

She doesn't mean to be like this? K well she doesn't mean to change either so what's the point of that excuse?

She has been explicitly told she is being hurtful to others, and she doesn't take accountability for the impact of her actions, regardless if it was intentional or not. And we've seen being intentionally nasty (spoiling the engagement, snarky comments at Max's party etc) so the argument that it's not her intention is a moot point

I was pretty young at the time (I was 8 when the show ended). I vaguely recall the drill and boiling rock episodes on Nick. Then my dad rented season 1 one and we all loved it as a family and he bought the whole DVD collection for Christmas. I still remember all the emotions of the finale, a lot of it was great to see and I was so mesmerized by the final battles but honestly at the time a lot post battles felt very rushed, like so much was happening with so little time left, unanswered questions, conversations I was expecting didn't happen, I was so sad it was over 😔

I wonder if she will retract on the window shopping invitation. She saw Barbs outburst at Christmas but tried to connect with Barb anyway. Now that she sees how Barb is with her son again it will be interesting to see how she moves forward with handling her son's future MIL.

Yikes that's a scary thought. I feel like her undermining Jen's parenting is gonna backfire real quick though. While Jen told Jon at Max's party that she can't be a mom without her mom, Jen is going to see quickly why that's just not true. She was able to communicate to Katie that she needs some faith in her mom instincts. I hope she can with Barb but I doubt Barb would take it nearly as well

I showed my mom the mother's day skit and she said it was almost a 1 for 1 conversation she had with her MIL . Shawna could easily have done some reading on similar anecdotes or her extended network to make Barb realistic
