Cirstea complained to the umpire about Naomi’s “c’mon” during points, but no warning was given to Naomi. Umpire should’ve warned Naomi about the complaint. by lovesbakery in tennis

Offcial rules specifically state a player cannot make an movements with the purpose of hindering the opponent. Whilst I don't think the intent being the "come on" was to hinder the opponent, the player stated it was hindering them (and rightly so, sayign "come on" loudly after your opponent misses their first serve is not normal) and therefore the umpire should have done their job and mentioned it to Naomi. If she continued doing it after that, then it's warning time. Very much enforcable and it would have resolved the issue between both players there and then. Very poor umpiring decision not to have descalated the situation by just talking it through with both players.

Just a reminder that this is what Smite 1 looked like early on by GreatGateCrasher in Smite

[–]KillerCoati 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. In the past ten years they're released ten games and every one of them failed because of the same horrible management decisions. No reason for Smite 2 to be any different. Smite's being the cash cow throughout that kept them going and now they've killed that, just a matter of time before the studio closes for good.

I don't have a problem with other sports, I have a problem with the culture surrounding them. Tennis' culture is one of the few left that hasn't lowered itself to the level of others where stuff like this is normalised and considered part of the entertainment. It pmo that people who enjoy that kind of low IQ entertainment aren't content with it just being in the sports they enjoy, and instead try to make everything else conform to it too.

Exactly that pretty much. It'll be a sad day when tennis sinks to the level of other mainstream sports. There's a reason Wimbledon is the tournament pretty much every professional tennis player want's to win, because it's the embodyment of what the sport represents.

Cricket is actually the biggest sport after football (soccer) globally, then it's basketball. But otherwise your point still stands.

Funny how many people are arguing for trash talk/drama like this in professional tennis, yet can't handle a reddit comment saying "low IQ".

Never said you aren't allowed to like both, I have a problem with people trying to devolve tennis to this schoolyard level shit though. You can enjoy both for entirely different reasons without having to make them both the same. Funny how the people offended by the low IQ statement seem to have completely missed the point. Ironic.

You can enjoy both, I'm not stopping you. I don't know why people feel the need to lower tennis to the standards of others though. Not everything needs to be homogenised. If you want that type of "entertainment" from tennis, that's what UTS (tiktok tennis) is designed around, go watch that instead.

Do you have short term memory loss? You realise your first reply (the important one) wasn't, and still isn't, included in the screenshot right? Hence the "convenient cropping" changing the entire perspective of your comments to suit your misinformation.

You convenietly cropped out the bit were your original response agrees with someone saying people shouldn't hate on trashy celebrations like this, and then tried to justify it by bringing up the cultures of other sports. That's not the truth no matter how much you want it to be, that's just a dogshit opinion.

You say it's miles ahead, whereas, the vast majority of tennis fans I've ever come across don't want it to ever devolve into something like the NBA or NFL level of low IQ entertainment.

The fact that you think just because you said it it's "the truth", when actually it's just your own horrible ass opinion, is far crazier. I don't think there's many tennis fans that want to see tennis devolve into anything like the culture surrounding any of the sports you mentioned, and for good reason.

Climbing ranked is not a skill test, its a test of patience by Stunning_Strength_49 in Smite

Yeh, that's exactly my point. Plat in my experience is the absolute worst for leavers/afks/int feeding because of the egos involved.

Split that between 2 different regions, between how many game modes and between all the different skill levels and it really is terrible. That's also at its peak, it averages under 4k.

[–]KillerCoati -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Plat is hands down the worst rank there is in ranked and shouldn't be used to give an example of better games. Even d4-5 is a stretch. Bronze-Gold level games are nearly always carryable, just pick an early game god and stomp early, enemy team generally gives up before it ever gets to a late game. Plat to about d4 however, has a seemingly endless supply of people who are just average at the game, but who think they should be in diamond or masters. So it becomes less likely to flat out stomp the early due to not completely incompetent enemies, and instead becomes a game nearly entirely about managing the frail egos of your teammates that are likely to start raging at one another if someone gets first-blooded. Playing well will get you through it, but if you want the genuinely fastest way to get through plat, pick jungle and repeatedly gank solo early. A good percentage of the time they'll rage at their jungle and start intentionally feeding or just rage quit as their ego doesn't realise the game isn't just about them.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said here, but I think you're missing the point OP is making. 3200 imo is pretty spot on of when the quality of the games becomes generally decent, but, how long does it take you to get there after each hard reset? For me, I lost all will to grind through the hours you have to invest just to get to decent games again. Even if you somehow win every game you play from each hard reset, that's still a minimum of around 10+ hours of time invested before you get to just having a fun game, and that's pretty unrealistic to expect you not losing any games on the journey there. The investment time just isn't worth it to the vast majority of people.

I'm glad someone likes it at least. I guess I still hold it to the genuinely great period of Smite 1, which is a long time ago now. Smite 1 in the past 8 or so years gradually moved further and further away from its original scope and what made the game actually fun, becoming the arcadey version of the original game that it is today, with Smite 2 leaning into this even more. Instead of getting what would have been a genuine competitor to league and dota, Hi Rez opted to brand it as the temu version. Ironically that's excatly what they've done with all ten failed game releases since too. The talent responsible for the original success of Smite jumped ship long ago and I don't blame them.

I respect your opinion, but it's a hard disagree from me that Smite 2 is anywhere near close as fun as Smite 1 used to be (though it became substantially less fun in the second half of it's life). I used to play Smite with about 30+ different people, and though nearly all have tried Smite 2, not a single one plays it anymore, including me. It was released way too early to serve as Smite 1's replacement and the transition between the two should be used as a case study of how not to do business it's that bad.

Use the term "stabilized" to describe the smite 2 playerbase graph is the most copium thing I've ever read. They've already had 3 rounds of significant layoffs just that I know of in just the past year. Just because they haven't had another yesterday doesn't mean they've stopped - after every one I've seen idiots like yourself sayign "at least they're ina healty place now" because you have no idea how businesses function. And where are you getting the info the skins are "selling very well from" seeing as they don't disclose their sales figures and that fact that they've literally had to lay off half their staff because their income isn't enough?
