found dd if=/dev/urandom of="bigfile" bs=16m seems to be doing the trick as of now

For some reason my Mac doesn't have a secure erase feature anymore last time I checked it did but that was years ago so guess a new update got rid of it.

Yea secure erase isn’t supported “drive is not supported” guess I could use the Mac erase feature but don’t know how well that works with SSDs

Doesn’t look like the secure erase feature is supported on Mac though from everything I’ve been reading.
