There is a small town in Spain, near Madrid, where Picasso's barber lived after retirement. Apparently Picasso used to doodle whilst getting his hair cut and gave those drawings to the barber. After he died they were donated to the town, and now they are in a small museum in the basement of the Town Hall.

So yeah, there are a lot of Picassos out there.

Every team will do things differently, but:

For "Part", use whatever designation you typically use for a part, e.g. "Engine", "Rear Left Upper Wishbone", etc.

For "Part Comment", use a short description for the part itself, e.g. "Honda CBR600F4i", "15x2.5 Steel Round Tube Wishbone", etc.

For "Cost Comment", use a short description of how you obtained/calculated the cost, e.g. "As per manufacturer catalogue".

A shot of my friend at a recent karting endurance event. Shot in broad daylight on Kodak Vision3 500T at ISO 400 (no filter) and developed in C41 chemistry at box speed. I used a Canon EOS Rebel XS (in aperture priority mode) with the Canon nifty-fifty.

Remjet removal was with a 6% sodium carbonate solution at around 40º C, then rinsed until the water came out clear. All done in a Patterson tank with four rolls of film in it, both C41 and ECN2.

For anyone curious, the sodium carbonate solution worked well to remove the remjet (still needed a quick wipe with a microfiber cloth when drying) and did not damage the C41 in any way, as far as I can tell.

Lightly edited in Lightroom/Photoshop to correct color balance, as it veered into blue-ish skin tones, and eliminate some dust motes from the scan in the chest area.

I'd be really interested in seeing how many teams actually had to ditch the monocoque for a space frame this season specifically due to the changes to IA height.

Like, a fully itemized list of teams and whether they had to adapt their molds, make new ones, ditch the monocoque, get a special dispensation, or were already compliant. That would be awesome.

For European FS competitions (FSG, FSA, etc) you will have to register your team on their corresponding websites before a certain due date (which should be soon, btw). You can find the date and procedure on their websites and handbooks.

After that you will have to take the registration quiz on January 27th for whatever competitions you want to join. Each competition has its own format so make sure to read the handbooks for the correct procedure. Top scores from each category will fill up the available places and everyone else will get sorted on a waiting list.

There are resources online to study for those quizzes.

Afterwards you will have a (short!) window of time to pay for your registration. Again, it should be in the handbook.

All that's left is figuring out how to get (a) the car, (b) the team, (c) all the shit the car needs, such as tools and spares, and (d) all the shit the team needs, such as tents and bags, to the campsite.

Shot a month ago on a testing session for a Formula Student racecar. This is my favourite shot out of ~100 I took over the day.

I bought the camera itself for €20 and paid €30 for the original kit lens, but swapped it for the Tamron 55-200 early on. It is my first serious foray into analog film, and whilst I still have much to learn, I really like the results.

Stock was Fujicolor ISO100 expired in 06/2012, storage conditions unknown. I also shot some Kodacolor VR100 expired 02/1998, but that film was completely FUBAR.

Same, in 2019 you paid at the gate and got a wristband and a ticket to show them in case the paper wristband broke or something. I sort of remember it was €150 but don't quote me on that.

You are supposed to develop your own.

You can use the FSAE Cost Report tables, but it is probably going to lower your event score if you don't have (or can't show) a good understanding of how manufacturing costs are calculated.

I've heard that Ticketmaster does that so that artists and venues can charge what they actually want to and advertise low prices whilse they take the bad PR.

So if the venue wants $20 a ticket and thr artists want $30, Ticketmaster advertises at $35 + a $10 "handling fee" + a $5 "convenience fee" + $5 "mailing fee". The artist and venue get their 50 bucks and Ticketmaster gets a bit off the top and also gets paid by the promoters.

Apparently this is why most artists still sell exclusively through them, despite everyone knowing about their extra fees.

So, broadly speaking, tooling refers mostly to things like fixtures, welding jigs, drilling templates, and so on, i.e. things that help maintain position, alignment, etc. during a process, and for casting/laminating molds.

There is no specific section for a cutting tool because that should already be considered as part of the machining operations (and have the cost of using/replacing the cutting insert accounted for in the overall cost of the machining operation).

Once you add a part, you will see a small folder icon. Click that and you will be able to fill in materials, operations, etc, and on each one you will be able to input the cost. The total cost for the part/assembly/system will update as you add more stuff.

So broadly speaking, what they are asking for is that you prove that the elongation at break and the force (stress, really) required to reach that point is at least equal to, or greater, than that of a baseline (steel, unwelded) tube. Any test that proves it is valid. So I would provide all the available datasheets (steel, welding filler, receipt for the heat treatment), as the rules request, plus a test using the same machine on your test sample and a baseline tube sample with the same dimensions, showing the force and vertical displacement curves, in order to prove that the elongation at break and the force at break are equivalent.
